Game of Thrones Facts (Nights Watch)

BONUS FACTS! I either couldn't fit them or forgot.
1: Only men can join the Nights Watch. It's a real sausage fest.
2: The oath of the Nights Watch is as follows.
"Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come."
When a member of the watch dies, after a eulogy is given, it ends with "And now his watch is ended."
3: There are also several stories that took place in the Nights Fort, most likely false and told to scare children. If you know them, post them as a comment for a sticky. First one to post it gets the sticky. Some might have just been mentioned and never properly told, but there are at least 3 that were properly told I think.

You fuckers had better appreciate the shit out of this, my computer did not want this made, crashing and blue screening constantly. Fuck.

Here's the story on a Night's Watch cook who served the King's son to his father in a pie

According to legend, the man who would later be known as the Rat Cook was a simple cook at the Nightfort. He became infamous when he served an Andal King a pie that was made of bacon and, unknown to the King, the King's own son. The Cook killed the King's son, a Prince, in revenge for a wrong the King supposedly did to him. The King was unaware of this however as he ate and praised the taste and asked for a second piece. The gods, angry because the cook had slain a guest beneath his roof, cursed the cook and transformed him into a massive rat who was doomed to be unable to eat anything but his own young.
According to the story, he is an enormous white rat and all the other rats that inhabit the Nightfort are his descendants.

tl;dr? Cook gets pissed at prince. Kills him. Dad eats him. Gods mad because cook killed guest. Turn him into a big-ass rat.

Oh, I had no idea you were doing these. I like comps like these, and I like the Song of Ice and Fire universe. This should be fun. Oh, and a story about the Night's Watch for those who want them.

Seventy-nine deserters of the Night's Watch abandoned their posts at the Nightfort, a fortification on the Wall, and went south, becoming outlaws. One was the youngest son of Lord Ryswell. When the deserters reached the lands of House Ryswell, they sought shelter with his father, but instead were captured and returned to the Wall. As punishment, holes were cut into the Wall and each of the deserters were placed in their own hole with spears and horns and then the holes were sealed up while they lived. They had left their posts in life so that in death, they continue their watch. Lord Ryswell, as he was dying, had himself carried to the Wall to take the black so he could stand beside the son that he had condemned to certain death. They became known as the seventy-nine sentinels.

But the White Walkers will bring about a darkness and pestilence on mankind unseen in 8000 years, raising the dead and forcing families to burn their families alive.

Hodor comp pls
User avatar #88 to #60 - theodordronen ONLINE (05/06/2014) [-]
I'll tell you a cool fact about Hodor, which I think I remember correctly. His name isn't Hodor, it's Walder. However since he kept saying Hodor (as far as we know, a nonsensical word), they started calling him that.
