We have them as laptops at our school.

To be honest they weren't so bad until their batteries started lasting 40 minutes and the casing overheated when you opened Finder.

Although paying the overprice for the design and interface (with its own problems as well) isn't worth it.

You can only use as much ram as your processor will handle, after that all other ram will just sit there. You'd have to get a better processor first.

I'm slowly moving towards the idea of cloud. SkyDrive has actually saved me once or twice. I just have ****** down and even ******** up where I live. Fibreoptics not for another 2 years plus. I think you're ultimately right. I am however once of those guys that always likes a solid, physical backup just in case.   
   
The upside is HDDs are so cheap now that a 4TB is barely over £100 and I can use it to record stuff from my TV straight on to it.
