Ok Guys. I did overreact. But I'm kind of sick, hearing muslim jokes since 9/11. Today I was called " goat-fuckin muslim" and it's kind of annoying, especially because I live in Germany, where muslims aren't really accepted since the last happenings worldwide. I see your point, and you were right, I fucking overreacted.

i never called him a terrorist. i believe terrorists are just a very tiny group of extremists who take the teachings of islam to mean something very different to what most people do. it was a fair statement to mention the stereotype though, because that's just a fact, muslims are unfortunately stereotyped, as are many groups within society. im sorry if i caused offense

well i don't want to be that other guy, but that joke seems pretty insulting to me, and his reaction was pretty mild, compared to some other stuff i've seen on this site. I would say we all apologize to each other, and we're done.

i just think there's always people that are gonna make jokes, even if they're offensive, but that's just the type of humour some people go for. it's when you just blatantly call someone a close-minded prick i have a problem, because that's uncalled for in any situation. if something offends you just leave it alone, you should EXPECT offensive jokes on a site such as this, particularly when stating a religion or opinion.

I strongly disagree with you depicting heartlessrobot as the victim. Of course you should expect offending comments on this website, but being actually offended by them, should not be penalized, especially if the reaction is really not that harsh. The joke in this case is also less of a general stereotype and more like a personalized insult as nass was adressed directly, after stating, that he is a muslim (in a very positive way, regarding the content)

Hmm I thumbed your comment and all but I have a kinda unrelated question. I searched a bit on cuba( my first time ever searching about this country) and I found an article that states that most countries do not find cuba to be democratic. I just wanted to ask a true cuban about this so I will have a reliable opinion( you never know who wrote the thing you read so its always better to question it). Btw I'm kinda atheist too even though Im currently living with my religious family and they do not know I dont believe in god.

Cuba has a mock-democracy. The country holds "elections" every year, but if you go against the regime then you're killed or imprisoned for it. In reality it is a socialist country. Fidel Castro holds the record for the longest world leader in power because he used fear and military force to stay in place. The people of Cuba have faced extreme oppression for over 50 years. With his Fidel Castro's brother, Raul, in place, it seems like the people are being allowed a few more freedoms, but it is still a pretty terrible place to live unless you are among the rich.

Right, so, at one point the US did attempt to help Cuba, it resulted in the debacle now known as The Bay of Pigs. At the last second the US pulled out in fear that the USSR (modern say Soviet Union,) would launch an attack because this was at the height of the Cold War. The big issue with Cuba (to the US) at the time was the nuclear missiles which were located on the island. In the end, the United States got the USSR to remove the warheads from Cuba and in exchange the US removed their warheads in Turkey. To this day, Cuba has relations with the Soviet Union and China, so the US just kinda lets them do their own thing.

Prior to the revolution which put Castro's regime in place, the US and Cuba had very good relations and much American culture can be seen in Cuba (such as American cars and a huge emphasis on baseball.)

so even though Cuba is closer to the US than to Russia and China, Cuba still trades with them and now is mostly without any relation to the US(guessing, if I'm wrong please correct me).
So clearly this Raul guy prefers to deal with socialist countries, and minimizes democracy affect on Cuba right?
hmm so I guess Russia really affects Cuba, and now the Russians are kinda democratic no?
So Cuba's big hope for regime change is Russian influence. I guess that it will be easier after this Raul guy death.
So are there any organizations in Russia or the US, that have a real influence, that are trying to change the Cuban regime? and also is there a real public will to change Cuba into a democracy?

As far as I know, there isn't any group in the US trying to actively change the government in Cuba. As for as the public's opinion, over 10% of the Cuban population has fled the country over the past 50 years. The people who left were either rich enough to buy their way out of the country, or desperate enough to try paddling to Florida using a make-shift raft. The ones who remain are either too poor or too scared to try to escape, or they are happy with the current regime. In other words, change from the inside is unlikely without assistance from another country.

Actually, Islam doesn't forbid depicting humans.
Mohammad didn't want Muslims to draw him because he feared that they would depict him as a higher being than a human, and that would hinder the spread of Islam.

As far as I know, depicting living things is forbidden only in form of tattoos, but I only know these stuff because of mandatory primary/high school education and coming from a religious family. I could always be wrong.
