And I'm not even American.

Obama actually didn't even give the order to kill Osama, higher ranking military officials did. They would've gone regardless of Obama's choice. Apparently tons of Seals aren't happy about him taking credit for Osama's death.

Aside from that he hasn't been terrible, but not particularly great either. The situation where in requires a great president, not a decent one.

YEAH!!!
User avatar #21 to #11 - ahj (05/11/2012) [-]
There is no higher military officer in the United States than the president. He is the commander-in-chief. What he says, goes. Therefore, your argument is invalid
#67 to #21 - yourtouchvdeath (05/11/2012) [-]
Mcarver is the real hero. Not Obama.
User avatar #69 to #67 - ahj (05/11/2012) [-]
I'm not saying Obama's a military hero; he most certainly is not. I'm just saying that he gave the order, because he did.
#70 to #69 - yourtouchvdeath (05/11/2012) [-]
Hardly. Obama spent more time maneuvering everything around so if the mission backfired nothing would blow back on him. You know sometimes when you're with your friends and someone asks you where you want to eat then you just say I don't know you decide. That's what Obama did.
User avatar #16 to #11 - studmaster (05/11/2012) [-]
You sir get a thumb. Its not like it was a hard decision to make... Kill Osama, or have 80% the country hate you, have the whole military hate you, and have the other 20% of the country only like you because of their pride.
User avatar #22 to #16 - ahj (05/11/2012) [-]
Actually, he was all alone in wanting to go through in the operation that killed bin Laden. Other officials have admitted that they advised him not to sign the order, because they were not sure of whether Osama was there or not. Not anyone would have put through that order, no matter what Fox News told you.
User avatar #45 to #22 - studmaster (05/11/2012) [-]
So are you saying that if you were president wanting to get reelected and the only thing you have to fall back good on your presidency because unemplyment is up, gas is up 4 dollars a gallon, more people are on welfare, housing market is down, crime levels are up, troops are still in the middle east even though you promised them that they would be out of there 3 years ago; that you wouldnt kill Osama?!?! Obama might be a bad president but he is no idiot.
User avatar #47 to #45 - ahj (05/11/2012) [-]
Did you not read? They didn't know if he was there. All of his advisers told him "Don't do it! It's a bad idea!". He did it anyway, and now people are calling it an easy call.
User avatar #51 to #47 - studmaster (05/11/2012) [-]
It was an easy call! Osama was public enemy number 1. The most hunted man in the world.. Osama being alove represented president Bushes failure. If there was a chance that he could take him out and get a 1 up on Bush he would take it. Hes commander in cheif Head of the united sates military. The one man we are supposed to look to for protection. If shit hits the fan Hes the man ( I rhymed :P), and IF he wouldnt of taken out Osama what would that reflect? That he is not adequate to lead the nations military.
#52 to #51 - ahj (05/11/2012) [-]
Are you not reading these at all? They didn't know if he was there. Obama could have just as easily sent Navy SEALs barging into a Pakistani family's living room. Now do you understand why it was not an easy call?
User avatar #55 to #52 - studmaster (05/11/2012) [-]
Soldiers are already in living rooms. And if they walked in there guess what. They would have gone back to base like it was another day at work. They have already been looking for him for 10 or so years its not like it was a new thing.
User avatar #58 to #55 - ahj (05/11/2012) [-]
You might want to do some research before you say shit like that. We are not in a war in Pakistan. We are not fighting in Pakistan. We are allies with Pakistan. Our troops do not barge into houses in Pakistan. The Pakistani government got mad enough that we sent an elite force into their country without telling them even though we managed to take out one of the most wanted men in the world. They would have been a hell of a lot madder if we hadn't taken him out and had also terrorized some innocent civilians in the middle of the night.
User avatar #60 to #58 - studmaster (05/11/2012) [-]
The only reason they know is because we did take out the most wanted men in the world. You are talking about the most elite soldiers in the world. They could probably shit in a ninjas pajamas and he wouldn't even know it.
User avatar #65 to #60 - ahj (05/11/2012) [-]
Not necessarily. The raid was performed in a military town, mere kilometres away from a military base. Plus, breaking into a civilian house, they're liable to call the cops. If the cops show up, they get found out. It's very unlikely that the raid could have gone entirely unnoticed. There's also the matter of wasting money on an unnecessary raid. It was certainly not an easy call, however you look at it. One of Obama's advisers actually said that it was less likely that bin Laden was in that compound than it had been that there were WMDs in Iraq. That should put in perspective the decision Obama had to make. I'm out.
User avatar #68 to #65 - studmaster (05/11/2012) [-]
It was the Vice President who said that not a military adviser.
User avatar #186 to #68 - alcapwner (10/02/2012) [-]
Sorry I'm late, but who is the Vice President, if not an adviser? He can hardly do shit! Unless the Pres resigns, of course.

On terms of just being a purely 'good' person: Washington.

Badassery? Jackson, easily.

Washington was never as good as people make him out to be. The British only really lost the war due to French intervention and lack of will from British Generals to kill Americans whom they saw as fellow countrymen.
User avatar #177 to #137 - amsel (05/11/2012) [-]
The French intervention...sought after and approved by General Washington.
