Half the people at my school say they have O.C.D., A.D.D., Insomnia, etc. (even though their not diagnosed) to make their boring ass lives seem more interesting.. I just wanna smack everyone with a baseball bat.

Is it okay if I've been diagnosed with insomnia but don't take the meds because I don't like/trust them?
#95 to #47 - rotinaj (03/07/2013) [-]
What do you take? The only insomnia medication I wouldn't be happy to take would be benzodiazapenes or scopolamine.

I actually have ADD. It is so frustrating not being able to focus on what I need to or forgetting the names of people I just met. It really sucks.

To give you an example of what it's like: You have to make a payment for your car. As you're about to do that, you think "oh wait, I should do the budget and make sure I can afford this." As you're doing the budget you think "I bet I could do this faster on the internet." and then you're like "I wonder if that one website updated its content". It just never friggin' ends.

TL;DR A.D.D. sucks.

Take amphetamines.
User avatar #84 to #82 - simplescience (03/06/2013) [-]
I already stated that I'm taking medication for it.
#85 to #84 - rotinaj (03/06/2013) [-]
Oh, my bad. Well, your medication is probably amphetamine anyways.
User avatar #86 to #85 - simplescience (03/06/2013) [-]
It is. I take Adderall, which is an Amphetamine salt. It does wonders for my grades and classwork. According to some comments on Funnyjunk though, I should be using it to get high.

Snort it
User avatar #88 to #87 - simplescience (03/06/2013) [-]
That sounds like it has the potential to be unpleasant.

It's more like the most pleasant thing ever ; don't do it though, it's addictive.
User avatar #94 to #89 - simplescience (03/07/2013) [-]
If I need to snort a drug to enjoy myself, then I'm obviously doing something wrong.

I'm happy enough as it is. I don't need to grind up my medication and snort it.

I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was very little and had to take pills all the time, and suddenly I went from about to fail the first grade to paying complete attention to everything.

Stopped taking it now but I know that problem you speak of.

I'm currently taking medication for it. It makes me focused without me being a total zombie. It's a very nice balance.
User avatar #71 to #66 - daimondemon (03/06/2013) [-]
When I took it, the only side effect was less talking and I wasn't hungry. But no zombie issues.
User avatar #73 to #71 - simplescience (03/06/2013) [-]
There is less hunger for the medication I take, and I actually talk more. The reason is that I love to share stories about my life because I feel it helps others relate if they need someone to talk to. If my mind is focused, I better recall stories and such and therefore it results in me talking more, but only if people are around.
User avatar #99 to #73 - daimondemon (03/07/2013) [-]
I think it's great to share stories, you fine people (such as I) Who have had a similar issue and talk with them about it. What I dislike though is when you share stories and people either have to call fake or don't believe most mental illnesses are real. (Even though ADHD and ADD are minor ones, I consider them mental health)
