This may just be me, but I still find it highly hypocritical when parents talk about how they "invented" half of the tricks their kids are using against them, because they were delinquents just like their kids.

What are your kids supposed to get out of that message, that you were just as much of a little ******* when you were a teenager, and are now using that experience to deny the same delinquency from them? What kind of role model is that supposed to make you?

Like, am I really the only one who didn't sneak out, do drugs, stick my dick in anything that moves, and lie to everyone just to get out of doing schoolwork/go to school? Why are people so proud for doing these things, especially as parents?I know all of these tricks to, but it isn't because I employed them. I observed my friends doing them.

What sort of moral high ground can you have telling your kids they can't do something you did with no regrets in your own youth?

She sounds like a bitch.

Regardless of what your kid does, you shouldn't talk so lowly of them and their friends.

That's pretty ****** .

Isn't it more, she knows that those things are a bad idea (due to experience) so she definitely doesn't want her daughter doing them

I sort of see the point this mom is making, of course they should be punished...
HOWEVER the way she's behaving is rather embarrassing.
Yeah I get that the girls were little bitches, but telling the life story to everyone and their uncle on Ebay WHILST sinking to a level a bitchy 13 year old would be ashamed of? Nah. Doesn't swing right with me.

Reminds me of this...

That right there is a great example of excellent ************* parenting.
User avatar #4 - killgorejaggerjack (10/12/2013) [-]
I totally agree with how this mom is handling this situation even though I am a guy if my mom bought me tickets to a concert for me and some friends and I were to betray her trust like that she would do the same but then the real punishment would come from my dads authority and it would not end up pretty. Those girls should find themselves lucky that all the parents are doing is selling the tickets and probably grounded them from each other for a little while

Everyone always takes the parents' side in these things. Ever think the parent was just a little overreacting, and maybe that concert meant a whole lot to that little girl, and one fight with her parents doesn't constitute totally ruining a huge dream come true that she would have had? Maybe it actually escalates the animosity between the parent and daughter and makes things worse for both? Just maybe?

**** no. She lied to her parents to hang out at some older guy's house, that's more than worth this punishment. I think you seriously underestimate how badly it could have gone if they hadn't been caught beforehand, and I think you overestimate how important some ******* concert is in the grand scheme of your life.

While this moment is savory, I still only see this as a reason to never have children in the first place.

If they didn't want to nurture bad habits in the first place....

Why'd they buy them one direction tickets?
User avatar #19 - ilovedust (10/12/2013) [-]
Tough love. They worked hard and spent money to treat their child and friends, So with their kid being disrespectful and bringing friends into ******** i say the brat deserves that and worse

The whole thing is kind of....childish. It's not quite the right way to handle the situation.

There are only two sentences i'd agree with in the whole text:

"I'm not your friend. I'm your mother."

There are too many parents, trying to befriend their kids, instead of raising them correctly.
#3 - chilllikeflint (10/12/2013) [-]
I think I would have ripped them up. Save someone else from buying One Direction tickets..
