I think part of the reason everyone is so worried about Iran getting nukes is because they have actively threatened to use them. Israel, has not, unless pushed to the brink of existence(samson option)

I dunno man, israel is always under attack so they'll always be one step closer to actually using the nukes whereas if someone invaded Iran, it would surely push everyone to the brink of WW3 since it is so out of the blue

So what do you expect Isreal to do? To just simply ignore this 'small cat' of yours, clawing at their leg? What are they supposed to do when under threat? Just stand by idely while bombs are launched? Or retaliate against said agression. You are belittling the actual threat, just like everyone else enjoys to do.

im not saying ignore it im saying israel needs to atop provoking it and perhaps instead of just occupying more land to antagonize palestine more, perhaps give some land back to them as a peace offering

both the regular citizens of palestine would like land bak and regular citizens of israel WANT to give land back...just the lunatics in each government refuse to cooperate

Right, you've conjured up a scenario where it's the US alone vs. Russia, China, and India? Why don't you at least make it realistic, either keep it solely the US vs. Russia or include the US's allies if you want to include Russia's allies. Oh, but then your argument would stupid because the US and its allies could literally take on the rest of the world. Carry on then.

The US is trying to fight guerrillas while supporting the middle eastern governments who are in turn supporting the guerrillas. If we fought Russia, we wouldn't be concerned with peacekeeping or nobility or any of that crap. Russia gets India or Pakistan, not both. The US and Russia both have a lot of allies. Some will come to aid them, others won't. To say that Europe wouldn't aid America because of oil is just as valid as saying that China won't aid Russia because of American trade partnership. Of course, the best argument for China aiding their (not so friendly) allies in Moscow is that Best Korea would almost certainly join in, and China is not likely to ignore any military actions by the South. Japan might also get involved, to whatever extent they can. The whole thing is too complicated to call, although in a head to head war with no allies involved, I'd call it in America's favor simply because they have such a strong military presence in the Pacific.

The hell are you talking about? I'm in the Army (infantry) and most of my company was pissed as **** when a deployment got called off. Keep in mind the ones that got the most worked up about it were those that have been oversees multiple times. Hell, most are upset that we are probably not going to see any action for the rest of our careers. PTSD to the extent of being kicked out is a REALLY uncommon occurrence. On top of that, Russia has a huge track record of being the most incompetent on the battlefield. They can't do what they did in WWII and simply throw soldiers at their enemy (you know, because they lost millions upon millions of soldiers and most weren't even geared). WWI was even worse. Hell, right before that they got Roflstomped by Japan. Not to mention they got stomped in Afghanistan with only the US giving small arms to their enemies. Look, I'm sorry your nation or favorite nation isn't a top player anymore. Get over it, the US might be in the same boat one day. Who cares? Take notes from smaller European nations, they absolutely don't give a **** about not being a force.

How many Russian soldiers 16-30 have seen real combat? What you say may have been true in the past, but consider that the US currently has a long list of veterans with extensive combat experience, whereas Russia has little more than a handful of skirmishes under its belt. The last somewhat major conflict was the second Chechen War with 80,000 Russian soldiers involved... in 1999. Everything since then has involved 10,000 or fewer.

Have you ever heard of the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk? It was the treaty Lenin signed to end the war with Germany. Try learning the history before you discuss it.

Do you really think a Russian is going to feel unsafe in his own home? This is the era of video surveillance of every last thing soldiers do. For God's sake, we evacuated Iraqi villages before we bombed them. We're pretty ******* far past the days of burning down villages. Cowards are going to run if they have a place to go.

As for your accusations, I think you need to go back and look at who posted what. I certainly never said America can take on the world, I never even mentioned anything about supporting its allies, and I think America is basically a huge terrorist state, so I'm not likely to say '**** yeah.' Don't get pissy with me just because you're wrong.

You really don't know history, do you? Germany was within 85 miles of St. Petersburg when Russia surrendered, and Lenin had to give up 300,000 sq. miles of Russian land just to keep them from thrashing the capital. Don't forget that many Russians deserted in WW2 as well, though only a handful lived to tell the tale. I'm not saying that Russians would let the US walk all over them, I'm just saying that you seem to have this Ubermensch view of the Russian people, when they're really just that: people.

Only one US soldier deserted in Iraq (many deserted on US soil, but he was the only deployed member to desert. On average, Iraq in much closer to Europe than any given point in Russia, not to mention that a soldier would only have to get out of tiny little Iraq before reaching more peaceful land. Any US soldier deserting in Russian has to walk through hundreds or thousands of miles of hostile Russia.

It seems we've reached the limit of replies. Do you realize that Russia had to drop out of the First World War because literally the entire military deserted? There's nothing about life in Russia that prevents desertion. Additionally, where would US soldiers even desert to? They're in Russia. As for undercover agents, the US has its fair share of those.

You can't know how modern Russian soldiers will react to combat just based on how they reacted in the past, especially since hardly a handful of them have ever seen combat.

Do you actually think that every American soldier gets drugged up and has PTSD? 2.5 million people have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. We have had 2 shootings by military members in that time. There are plenty of service members who are fully capable of going to war again. Even if a lot of them have PTSD, they'll still fight better than a bunch of untested rookies, Russian or otherwise.

The whole issue in the Middle East (as it has been for about 2 decades now) is a huge political, religious, and economic mess. But Isreal is not totally out of their mind to be so edge and military focused. If you have a hundred different terrorist groups (and a few governments) openly condemning you and your people all to death (with some groups like Hamas actually going through and attacking), you would arm yourself to the teeth as well. Isreal has the backing of the UN/USA because the UN created Isreal in 1941 and don't admit that maybe it wasn't a great idea.

Media propoganda and speculation. Everything I've been able to dig up tells me that Hamas has specifically puts innocent people in harms way to make Israel look bad. For example: Israel left pamphlets telling residents to move away from Hamas before an attack they were planning. Hamas told the residents to stay, so they did.
www.cnn.com/2014/07/13/world/meast/mideast-tensions/
Now tell me; who do you think is at fault for the deaths of these 'innocent' people? It seems to me that these are towns where terrorists hide behind 'innocent' people and call bloody murder when they're attacked; a tactic that is not uncommon or unreported during recent wars.
Now don't get me wrong, I understand that Israel has killed innocent people and children, but I still blame Hamas for these deaths.

Palestinian here!
You're all a bunch of uneducated morons trying to sound smart on the internet.
I will say that Israel does have a right to exist but not at the cost of so many people, I don't blame Hamas for the rockets because they have been pushed so hard for years, but I don't support them on making the Israelis leave, they've been there too long and they deserve to live there as much as the Palestinians. But confining my people to prisons such as Gaza is simply inhumane. If you don't believe me Google Israel's Gaza border laws, they legit aren't aloud to farm crops without a thousand permits.

Now, my idea for peace is recreating Israel as Jewish and Palestinian state called Palestrael where a representatives for the Jews and Palestinians will run the government, the walls around Gaza and the west bank will be destroyed allowing people to live together and creating weapon laws so no more fighting will take place.

Sadly this will never happen because both sides have radicals!

the jews just want you to play a game which they are good at. as opposed to muslims who will force you to play their game and if you dont play along you are dead.

problem is, you bring down the wall, and now you've got half a dozen suicide bombers a week setting themselves off anywhere they find former Israeli people

Pakistani Muslim here..........

that's my dream exactly...why can't we all just get along man? i dream every day of running my own country and dreaming the laws i would make for the country. i would point out the errors in every single country and errors we have made in histories and resolve them in my own mind by creating laws and regulations....

if only that was possible. but no matter what, the minute i get the chance: i'm completing my ******* dream. we've had enough bloodshed.

Solving issues by creating infinite laws and regulations hasn't worked in the past and I don't see it working in the future. The key to peaceful and cooperative living despite cultural and religious differences is education from a young age. People must be taught about other cultures in a light that says how interesting they are, rather than how different.

Then people will naturally cooperate without the need for strict rules. I believe that people are naturally drawn to seek cooperation, but they are blinded by their upbringing.

EXACTLY. Education is the key man. As Carl Jung explained that Childhood Development is the most important thing in anyone's life, children mostly absorb their knowledge from childhood experiences, even the racists of today, all of them had an experience in their life where they acknowledged racism as children and they now adapted to it.

i think i didn't explain myself right. what i meant to say was i wanted to make a better world by diminishing some laws and bring Democracy where everyone has equal rights. Education would be my first step and my most significant step more than any other acts i choose.

For me the worst part of the Israel/Palestine conflict is how pointless it seems to someone on the outside. The biggest problem here are the radicals-and they're on both sides, while they're present we'll never have a lasting peace.

What we need is somebody willing to make concessions and hard decisions, who can say "enough, this isn't helping anybody" Unfortunately those people don't seem to exist in the positions they need to be in.

You honestly think a country would relinquish it's ability to autonomously govern itself so they could assimilate Gaza and the West Bank? You're right that will never happen but it's not because of radicals, it's because Israel is the clear loser in that deal.

So long as Hamas is the dominant power in Gaza Israel will not stop killing them and any civilians who are in the area. Israel has bloody hands too but Hamas is equally responsible for perpetuating violence.

Personally, I see the middle east as one huge area filled with old conflicts that shouldn't hold sway anymore. Instead, all the groups of people out there are extremely proud of themselves, their history, and everything of that like. Because of that, I feel other countries shouldn't get too involved simply because there is no obviously right side. Both sides have done terrible things and picking the lesser evil isn't exactly a good choice whenever simply not getting involved is a choice. Oh well though, that's just my opinion.

If we care so much about their natural resources, then take them like anyone with a brain would. Let them fight each other until one owns it all, then kill them right after because they'll be weak. Claim to the rest of the world they were a threat to your country and place puppets that will "trade" all the oil to you. Unless it's an American (U.S.A) puppet. Everyone they put in place kind of always turns out to hate America (U.S.A).

It's not ok to kill millions any more. You have to like you said, make them fight each other to weaken them and then put puppet government that will sign any paper you want. All legal and freedom.

There was nobody identifying themselves as palestinian pre-1967. Nobody. And anybody who does is a liar. PLO admits it, Hamas admits it on their own television, but to the world, they say palestine is occupied. Free the palestinians. But why? Because they hate jews. The only reason this palestine thing is an issue is because they're being used as a political tool to destroy the country of israel.

Just like "native americans" never existed, because no-one indentified with that term few hundred years ago. Today palestinians lived in Palestine for thousands of years, and jewish colonisation existed only for a 100 years.

Meanwhile in Gaza, this is hamas. The things you don't see. Hamas is using it's own people as human shields. Israel tells the people who live near places that are going to be bombed to leave so they don't get killed. But those who live there may not leave cause hamas wants to use them as human shields and make Israel look like a war crminal. They literally use their own people as shields and the picture should proof it.

**** HAMAS

The same way you handle a hostage situation. Just shoot the terrorist and try to minimize citizen casualties. You don't do that by carpet-bombing the place.
