there is a talon company camp just out side of megaton it has a at most 2 laser rifles and 50-180 mf cells, its across from the sewer treatment plant, there are 3 talon company mercs, so have cautiousness when entering

a-ha! alright, gimme specifications. Windows 7 yeah, are you on steam, is it game of the year edition, and at what point does it crash?

i5 2430M 2,4GHz
nVidia 540M
8GB RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Bought it on a DVD, not game of the year, and non-steam.
I could play from 5-30 minutes and then it would crash. But it started to happen more and more often, so i decided to re-install it. But then i found out that my PC has broke the CD (http://i.imgur.com/doQZb.jpg). So i tried to pirate it and now it just crashes whenever i open the game.

error message or just "FO3 Has stopped running" sort of thing?

It just says the "Fallout3.exe has stopped running"-thing

This is the fix that worked for me:

Open up the fallout.ini file in: My Documents\My Games\Fallout3
Find the line:

bUseThreadedAI=0

change it to:

bUseThreadedAI=1

Add another line after it and insert:

iNumHWThreads=2

This will limit the game to 2 cores and prevent the engine bug from causing the game to freeze.

*If the game still crashes write this iNumHWThreads=1
