In America, more people are killed by drunk driving than guns.
(a lot of the gun deaths are suicides)

*Everywhere, more people are killed by drunk driving than guns. The gap between the two is just a lot smaller in America.

Problems do not come from the guns, If you didnt have a gun you would use a tazer then just slit the throat of the person you tazed, or you would use a rock or heavy object in a sock and beat them to death, People will kill eachother no matter what they have to use

so your argument revolves around the fact that if you want to kill someone you can kill them? Well damn straight, you can just choke people.. But that said, how fast does a gun kill? how easy is it to take a life when you have a gun? It only takes a moment of anger and you might end up as a killer..

But a gun does make it easier point and pull the trigger, at least when you lift that rock or shoot the tazer you have that time to reconsider a gun is instant.

amercas drinking laws arent as strict as most other counties.

and gun laws are a lot stricter then you would think

lol strict laws - lol school shootings and cinema-shootings - huehuehue - very strict..
User avatar #20 to #17 - iamthou (08/22/2012) [-]
well the theatre shooting could have easily been downsized if they werent so strict, IE someone with their concealed weapons permit and seeing him tried to stop him

many people had a gun at that theatre and they said they didn't shoot him because there was no "safe shoot" in that scenario

The real reason is that most people's bodies are still developing, even if only a little, at that age, so alcohol could potentially cause problems.
User avatar #2 to #1 - nidhugg (08/21/2012) [-]
Guns could do that too^^
#3 to #2 - anon (08/21/2012) [-]
True, just pointing out that the reason is because of the effects on the person drinking.

you do realize that there are so many laws for guns that you can't use it how you think anyone can use it. in my area you can never carry a gun around. you can only have it in your house pretty much. you can only transported to and from the gun range and if you stop anywhere you could actually get arrested if a police officer sees the actual guns. guns cost a lot of money. ammo cost a lot of money. you do realize that the only problem with guns non law abiding citizens. a lot of people at least obey the laws. the only instances where laws aren't obeyed is in the case of not knowing the law, in which case you could face many years in jail over a technicality, and if you were a criminal, in which case you don't need to follow all of the procedures to get a gun in the first place and you could actually buy one off of the black market easily. all the people who say that guns are so bad clearly don't know **** about them.

What's more retarded is the gambling age, which is 21 in my country.
If you're eighteen:
Join the army? Sure. (Not that our army does anything.)
Alcohol? Surely you started at thirteen.
Have a say in who runs the country? Go ahead.
Using your own money in a game of chance? **** off mate, you don't know what kind of **** you're messing with here!
User avatar #13 - trostell (08/22/2012) [-]
With context, I think the whole gun thing is actually about the Army, not that you can buy guns at 18. "You must hurt yourself or others", as in kill or be killed, a common situation in combat.

D'oh, I read that wrong. My mistake. Anyways, you can drink at 18 on base if you're enlisted, from what I've heard. Federal law only says you have to be 18. No state law can overrule federal limits such as age limits on drinking.
User avatar #11 - toonlinktwentytwo (08/22/2012) [-]
those laws are in place because the brain only finishes developing at the age of 21
and alcohol can interfere with proper development

This is why the rest of the world thinks Americans are dumb -_-
User avatar #7 - biggrand (08/22/2012) [-]
why cant we have both?

Now you are 16. You can't play videogames about killing other people. No, but you can join the army, go to war and kill actual people.

America.

got to be 18 to join, and if you join the army you are allowed to drink.
