you're all a bunch of asshole nerds who can't handle a slight redesign
********

This is a SLIGHT redesign?

What's a NORMAL redesign to you? Them being dogs instead of turtles?
User avatar #46 to #7 - kinginyellow (05/04/2014) [-]
Idk, maybe people tired of "slight" redesigns in these movies. Transformers had some really ******* ugly designs, not even for not being the originals, just ugly too.

I don't think turtles should have lips... Its ******* creepy.

''slight''

I've never been a fan of the TMNT, but this is the stuff of nightmares.

It's not the fact that it's redesigned, it's the fact that it's hideous.
User avatar #76 to #8 - lolollo (05/04/2014) [-]
Oh yes, I remember one of the biggest factors in my initial interest in the TMNT was in MY DESIRE TO **** THEM FROM HOW GORGEOUS THEY WERE.

All the ninja **** was just a bonus...

What else do you expect MUTANT turtles to look like?

And being directed by one of the three worst directors of all time.

See, Transformers worked because it was based on toys that beat the **** out of each other constantly, and that was fine. You could put explosions everywhere because, well it's the thing Transformers did, they just went full throttle on the lasers and bombs.

Here he was given a tv series that has had a lot of extra character and design into it. It's not just the classic beat 'em up, it's not as easy to half-ass and get away with. He either has to change or stop, like Paul W Anderson. I actually find Paul worse, just because I'm a big Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil fan though.

Except Shia LeBoueoueoueoueoueouef is an irritating cunt who can't act for **** , almost ruined the first movie and DID ruin the other two. Oh, and explosions are all well and good, but they lose their effect when they're everywhere for no reason.
User avatar #51 to #50 - kinginyellow (05/04/2014) [-]
Well I just ignored everything to do with him when I watched. Found out it's a fun movie if your turn your brain off, and that's what I reserve that over-the-top stuff for. I just hate Paul more because while Bay made a mess, he wasn't taking his creative license to the point that his movies could be "people fight ninjas and there's lots of blood" and "a zombie movie with a girl who can literally do everything because she's sleeping with the director" in place of what could have been better movies. At least Bay just made a mediocre, brainless movie.
User avatar #53 to #51 - chimpaflimp (05/04/2014) [-]
Who is Paul W Anderson? The guy I know who makes loads of ****** video game movies is Uwe Boll.
User avatar #54 to #53 - kinginyellow (05/04/2014) [-]
He made the Resident Evil and Mortal Kombat movies. He was given waaaay too much "artistic license" and decided to gut and redo the stories on both.

Recast his wife as the main character in Resident Evil (all of them) and rewrote the story to make a new character who is completely and utterly invincible, she even shoots a helicopter all the way up in the air through the cockpit with a sawed-off shotgun. From ground level. He just then rewrote and removed entire chunks of story and Capcom gave him the freedom to do so, so he was allowed to remake the charactrers, story, and change pretty much all of it. Perfect example of ruining it entirely, and it's why I'm happy Bay kept most of the Transformers stuff intact.

And Mortal Kombat was just awful. ****** plot (again badly redone), bad actor choice, and just horrible writing and acting. It was so bad that a no-name actor who played Johnny Cage actually had to demand his character killed off at the beginning of the sequel.

Is the MK film the one with the famous "for me, it was Tuesday" quote? Also, I like that Peter Cullen was Optimus and that the special effects on the transformers themselves are fantastic, but Bumblebee is a VW Beetle, not a Camaro and Optimus is a fire engine, not some racing lorry.

Not sure, but check out this

That was probably some of the best acting the sequel could put out.

I'm pretty sure MUTANT turtles aren't supposed to look good
User avatar #24 to #8 - marqueze (05/03/2014) [-]
Now it might just be me, but I don't think mutant turtles should be all that beautiful.
User avatar #49 to #24 - kinginyellow (05/04/2014) [-]
Ya, but they don't really seem to fit TMNT, they were more on the badass looking, hell they could be considered "cute", pretty sure April says that at one point. These look like villains more than heroes.

Here's my take on it:
The tone of the movie is somewhat serious and action oriented.
The bulbous faces would be too silly to be able to take the characters seriously enough for what they're doing - fighting criminals.
Of course, they've all kept their teenage demeanors. This gives them enough sillyness to balance out with seriousness.

Let's see the movie first, and THEN we decide on whether or not the design was a good idea or not. I'm sure the producers had a goal in mind when they were making them.
User avatar #14 to #8 - xgeneration (05/03/2014) [-]
honestly, doesn't look that bad for me
original is kinda better though
User avatar #9 to #8 - cleateater (05/03/2014) [-]
because the original design was beautiful
User avatar #10 to #9 - roddor (05/03/2014) [-]
The original design was a cartoon, it looked fine in the context of the universe.
When this design is put in live action, it dives headfirst in to the uncanny valley.
#28 to #10 - wimwam (05/03/2014) [-]
Not necessarily. This worked just fine for the 1990 live action film.
User avatar #69 to #28 - itembox (05/04/2014) [-]
I think they should just reuse the old suits for ***** and giggles.
