Cause there is no reason why your grandmother might have been going to the store anyways. What do you think once they hit 65 we lock them in the house?
Try telling many elderly people theyre too old to perform basic tasks and see if they just sit back down and accept it. They still want their own independence.

My grandfathers are dead, I've pretty much got two grandmothers, one is wheelchair-bound, nearly toothless, and poor, and the other works for a lawyer so she is pretty well-off. Both are great, really, but my grandma with money is able to help me out when I'm in need of gas money or, since my mom can't afford much and my job sucks, if I were to mention offhand that there's something I wanted to do like a concert or convention, or if there's a movie I want to see, she'll throw me a bone.
tl;dr: two grandmas, one is rich the other is poor, the rich one is helpful and both are great.

I'm on the same boat, though I only hate one and I hate her like the devil himself for basically convincing her mentally ill daughter to leave her children my brothers and I alone while the father is out on deployment. The best part? she didn't even tell my dad she left... Grandma's orders. so my dad comes home a month later to an empty house because my brother, in the last responsible thing he would ever do in his life, his brain stopped aging or something at that point... not really familiar with his disability took us to the church, where we stayed for the next month.

you might be thinking, "sounds like a ****** mother, not a ****** grandmother." but remember, my mother is mentally ill. My grandmother took the opporunity to convince my mother to leave my father, the most dad-meme-like dad I know, Hi hungry, i'm dad etc because he was abusive. Know how I know that's ******** ? she left her kids with the abusive father... and waited 6 months to even try to fight for us. and by that I mean voluntarily give up all rights to us kids and dump all her debt on my dad. ashamedly because grandma told her to... my mother didn't like making decisions, which was part of why she left. my father wanted her to start being responsible instead of calling him at work every time something went wrong

sorry for the long post... I just need to rant about that bitch every once in a while... Honestly, she was the only person I have ever been happy to see die. ****** sake, I was 5 when she left and hadn't even started school yet! because of that I was non-social because i always felt like I wasn't even good enough for my own mother.

I worked through this a long time ago, but honestly... I can't even begin to imagine what motivated that woman... and everyone on my mother's side of the family seems to worship the bitch and **** talk my dad...

Rant over.

Wow, you know whats funny? Theres not a single shred of proof on that article. All they say is its good.

Meanwhile, if you look into the science of it, as in This guy's book: (books.google.com/books/about/Seeds_Of_Deception.html?id=ltpSPgAACAAJ) where he talks all about the science and talks to the scientists who first tested GMOs before they were even approved. Look up the name Dr Arpad Pusztai. He's the guy who brought the problems to attention first. ( You need to login to view this link )

Whats funny is he was hired BY THE BIOTECH companies to test their product. They expected him to approve it and send it on its way. But when he tested one of the many GMO products out there, a potato with a poison to kill bugs that ate it, he found that when he fed it to rats for a short while, they developed liver lesions and DIED. And that just scratches the surface of what problems there are.
User avatar #121 to #101 - stillnotbob (11/19/2013) [-]
Hey guess what I eat tons of **** with GMO's in it and chances are you do too unless you shop at whole foods. The funny thing is, if anything you said were true the news media would be all over this, and don't give me that "paid by the corporations" ********
User avatar #124 to #121 - majormoron (11/19/2013) [-]
Firstly, yes, I do eat GMOs, but I try not to eat the high in GMO foods, which is basically corn and soy. Secondly, there are plenty of places where you can get organic foods, including major supermarkets like Stop and Shop. Third, there is a money trail that proves that some of the GMO propaganda is paid for by corporations, so yes, I am going to give you this " ******** "
User avatar #155 to #124 - tornadomad (11/19/2013) [-]
You say GMO as if it's an ingredient and it pisses me off. Genetically modifying food to make it more plentiful has not been proven to cause any adverse health effects. The sources are about as trustworthy as the people who created the myth that Fukushima's power plant is causing high doses of radiation to contaminate our fish. It's just a bunch of propaganda to make the government look bad. The reason they pick something like that is because it's easy to believe and this is a time when the government has recently lost enough trust to make any claim against it seem to hold water. We won't know if GM crops are dangerous to people for another 30+ years because GM crops haven't been around long enough to test long-term effects.

The problem is that the only real counter-argument is simply that they do not cause any problems. I could provide a dozen sources that agree and you could provide a dozen that disagree. High-Fructose

Fructose is a sugar, learn to -ose
User avatar #135 to #131 - majormoron (11/19/2013) [-]
Durr, but fructose is not from cane-sugar, which is what sugar is from. Fructose is manufactured.

There was once a ad on Nickelodeon about how you should avoid anything that rhymes with gross, its too bad I cant seem to find it. IT was about how you should avoid glucose, fructose, sucrose, and dextrose.
#247 to #135 - mayoroftownsville ONLINE (11/19/2013) [-]
Wow, Nickelodeon? I guess that trumps the knowledge of a Biochem student. All -oses are sugar, moron. Fructose is literally known as fruit sugar, because that's where it primarily comes from. If you avoided things with -ose in their names, you would die. Glucose, galactose and fructose are all necessary components of a healthy diet, as is sucrose, aka table sugar. You are a ******* moron.
User avatar #166 to #135 - xxiixx (11/19/2013) [-]
Those are all different structures of simple sugars, all sharing the same chemical composition. And the ad was because some products, rather than putting sugar as an ingredient, would put those names so you wouldn't think it was high in sugar, nothing to do with the names themselves. The whole ad campaign was about fighting obesity, something normal cane sugar plays into just as much as any sugar, whether it be corn sugar or whatever.
User avatar #171 to #166 - majormoron (11/19/2013) [-]
Probably true, but still, highly processed sugars like fructose is harder for the body to digest than natural sugars, which leads to obesity quicker than sugar would. Companies use it because its cheaper to use than sugar, thus more profit.
User avatar #178 to #171 - xxiixx (11/19/2013) [-]
You need to better research the science behind this stuff rather than believing all the conspiracy theories. The -ose prefix means sugar and the fru- comes from what things it is mostly found in, fruit. Fructose is a naturally occurring simple sugar found in things like honey, berries, vegetables, etc. Sucrose (aka the "pure natural sugar") is composed of one part fructose and one part glucose. When you ingest sucrose, your body breaks it down into glucose and fructose before it can be used to create energy in the form of ATP. Fructose is actually easier to digest than sucrose because there is no breaking down to be done. Many people say to avoid fructose and glucose specifically for this reason, as the energy it yields is seemingly short lived because you can process it so fast.
