No one was there to question or edit the script or the directing, so literally every actor in the movie has no idea what they're doing. Even the great actors in those movies do poorly because their characters are just written like absolute **** . It's not their fault.

in 2 he's insufferable, all the bitchfitting and crying together with Padmé is excruciating. But I also think he redeems himself in 3, he has a very dificult role to play and he does so just fine imo. I especially liked the scenes between Palpatine and Anakin.

Watching episodes 1-3 over again, I completely blame the failure of 2&3 on Anakin's actor. It's one thing to cast a no talent pretty boy, but to then make the majority of the 2nd film a soap opera between him and Natalie Portman killed it. 3 was awesome but still fell short because of the lead actor and his cry baby turning into a rushed and non convincing Vader.
