dont you think all of hollywood directors or whatever are friends and show each other scripts way before they are done os released as a movie? thats what I think
its 2009 hanging out with Matt G at a party drunk and high as fock. Hey Matt? want to see something cool? Heres the new Star Wars script Im writing... sound possible? or you just not smart enough to think of reasons on why Simpsons keeps guessing stuff almost correct?
because at a minimum of six years ago, during the same year the first CG alvin movie was released, both people working on the screenplays just so happen to tell Matt G about it? and he chose to believe that both of these movies would come out at the same time on the same year in the future and that the seven Star Wars movie would be well received so he could make the quip "The Apology"?
Actually mate, this kind of thing happens all the time. People go to parties all the time. They meet contacts and people in the industry talk to each other. It is probably just a coincidence, but the show is full of a lot of those
I'm not doubting the party shindig or the fact that the simpsons adds references, more the dudes logic that Matt G knew in 2006 that Episode VII of star wars would be release the same time that a third alvin and the chipmunks movie was because of the party and that it wasn't a coincidence.
Don't see why you're getting thumbed down by these neck beards. What you're saying might sound stupid but they're being too ignorant to ignore that you could very well be right. Directors and stuff share scripts and everything secretly to show them to others. Absolutely plausible Matt G sat with JJ at one point or someone else and this came possible. Not a single reason you deserve the downthumb.
exactly. The thing about Homeland security spying in home on that episode with the wiring through the house... that seems coincidental i think thats why youre getting flak man. But if it's pop culture related absolutely reasonable to have what you said accura.te
2009,beein jj. , hanging around in a fancy hollywoodbar lucas and steve, Matt appears,
M:"whats up guys?
JJ:"that guy again?"
L:"Why are you on everyf ucking party we are?"
M:"I hope you guys leak **** about your stupid movies and i can use it for my moneyproducing show?"
Maybe, JUST MAYBE, that happened as well.... or they all met in a swingerclub and discuss with steven hawkins the sense of humor
(sry for bad english)

I loved reading the guacamole guy's his avatar was a drunk MLP Spike clutching a bottle of booze, but that could easily have changed. criticism of it on e621. The plot really is messed up stuff.
At least they didnt predict that Han Solo is struck down by Kylo Ren, aka Ben Solo, aka his son who turned to the dark side after his Jedi training at the hands of Luke Skywalker went terrible awry.
the movie has been spoiled so much on this site by you pathetic anons on top of the fact everybodys already seen it that there is no reason to spoil it.
It's like spoiling vader is lukes dad. Everybody already knows, you ******* faggot.
Star Wars spoilers, don't click: Anyone else feel Abrams kind of just reshot A New Hope, but changed a couple of the plot elements? I mean they even compared the Deathstar to the planet cannon and were like "this is a little different than last time".
I enjoyed the movie, but the whole time I was just thinking "I've watched this already". It was the same feeling with his Trek movies, the first one was great and the second was too, but the second was just shot for shot the first movie with different reasons for how they got to those points.
Still, way better than the prequels. Good acting, fun story and likable characters.
i don't think it's a reshot of it, so much as a homage.
Intended to evoke nostalgia and mirror the previous movies, but it mirrored it a little too closely and people didn't like it.
Keep in mind though, that for each similarity there's a huge diffrent.
Ray isn't from a linage of powerful force-sensitive, her parents are scum. Kylo Ren dresses up and acts the part of Vader (powerful, intimidating, confident) but at the end of the day he's more like a less skilled Anakin. (conflicted, whiny, arrogant.)
None of the characters in this movie are particularly strong in the force. (Ray is totally untrained but seems to have plenty of talent, Kylo Ren is barely trained and wasn't exactly hurling TK or lightning around. Finn might not even be force-sensitive.)
No idea why the resistance isn't just the entire alliance.
Considering the "first order" is literally just the empire with a name change after their bosses got killed, I don't know why the alliance isn't still technically at war with them.
Did everyone just pack up and go home when Palpatine died and leave all the imperial officers running the show?
doesnt' matter what literally term you use. it was a ripoff. it was a sanctioned ripoff of lazy slutty losers with a female head who wanted to put a female in the role cause she's stupid.
"For the three decades after Endor, the First Order would largely escape galactic attention, with many in the New Republic Senate believing that it posed no real threat to the galaxy at large, with Chancellor Lanever Villecham arguing there was no need for concern as long as it adhered to the dictates of the Galactic Concordance. Despite this, the Order blatantly defied the accords by ushering in the mass mobilization of superior stormtrooper forces, along with violating Republic bans on the sale of weaponry to the First Order and its rules governing capital ships. Testing the resolve of the New Republic, small skirmishes would occasionally erupt between the First Order and Republic, all while the Starkiller operation would seek a suitable planet for implementation"
so they did totally thumb their noses at the republic, breaking all their laws and even getting into armed conflicts with them at times, but the republic just rolled over and took it, let them build their army in relative peace and their super-weapon in secret.
you have to remember, they had just gotten out of a war thirty years earlier. not everyone wanted to go to war, luckily, leia saw the implications of this and started a resistance who I assume will become the Galactic Alliance from the old canon.
It's not really "go into another war" it's the same war they were always in. Unless someone sued for peace, the first order is literally just whatever was left of the empire, and they clearly never stopped rebuilding their forces.
i mean...they fled into the unknown regions for a while and didn't fight...I'd assume that means the war ended. Honestly this is going to be a second galactic civil war.
Its tied with AotC for IMO weakest star wars movie. Not a bad movie, but too similar to ANH. I watched it three times in cinema before i got to this conclusion.
For me it wasn't the similarities, it was the ****** writing. The first half of the movie was great, I was hooked. Kylo was set up to be a very powerful bad ass he stops a ******* blaster round with the force then turns into an angsty teenager literally throwing temper tantrums. The romance was forced, a lot of the humor was misplaced and forced. Sometimes I forgot that they were on an urgent mission with how little they seemed to care until that moment where they're like "Oh right, we have this urgent thing to do".
Then there was the last 15-20 minutes of the movie that was so rushed it really hurt it for me. They entire sequence after the attack should have started off the next movie, or at least have been done in a way that didn't feel like I watched a trailer instead of the conclusion. There was so much that left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
There were positives though. The action was on par and kept me interested and reminded me that it was in fact a star wars movie. Despite obvious pandering for race and gender, I actually really like both Finn and Rey, their characters have a lot of potential for some massive growth. Abrams did a pretty ****** job in my opinion. If they fix the cringey attempts at humor and correct the pacing, I'll really be able to enjoy the next one.
Meaning choosing a black protagonist and female protagonistfor the sake of multicultralism. The actors still did really well and the characters were actually interesting.
Agree with you 100%. Was a bit disappointed, especially after all the hype. Was a good movie though, just not that great. Way better than 1 and 2 (I personally liked 3, as so much happened in that movie).
I liked to think of it as how history tends to repeat itself. As how Greece built many grand monuments with Doric, Ionic and Corinthian elements, and then Rome based many of their grander structures using those elements. It's a pattern of empires attempting to outdo old empires, but using many of the same ideas and elements from those old empires. Just my thought on it, though.
I think this episode was more of a setup. It reuses a bunch of the old stuff to get us back in the feel of things. To give us that old Episode 4-6 feeling so that we know it won't be like the prequels.
AND, the story wasn't nearly as graceful or inspiration-provoking as 4. 4 was a legit 'Space Opera'. 7 was just a few small-scale ground battles, sneak scenes, and personal scenes cut together.
I thought 7's writing was oddly-paced, focusing on sneaking, chase-scenes, and funny-moments. The original 4 tried to show the scenes and settings, and set up a greater sense of planetary grandeur.
I also think 4 did a better job of integrating the Personal Story Thread with the 'Political' Story Thread. 7 destroyed the entire Republic in ~1 minute of film, and yet spent ~40 minutes on the relatively simple Solo family drama.
> The ' Rebels Planning The Attack on Starkiller Base' scene was actually cringe-worthily bad - a complete carbon-copy of 4, but with a hilariously brief and sloppy planning session.
> After all that time, the rebels are still using shlockly technology? Where was the Republic fleet? Where were the big ships? Did they just kick back and get old for ~30 years?
> Come to think of it, what was the entire Galaxy doing for the past 30 years. How did the order have time / resources / leeway to build Starkiller Base?
So as you said, I agree - very disappointed with how JJA deliberately hammered 7 into the tropes of 4, especially with such fertile lore at his disposal.
That was some of my first thoughts exiting the theater. I hated how big of wussies the new order was.
"So they have literally weaponized an entire planet?"
"Yea but its cool, I used to scrub the toilets, just shoot here and you can destroy it."
"Wait, shouldn't we actually like do any planning? Like get our capital ships and frigates in on this? I mean last time it took an entire spy network, a sizable fleet, and actual planning and tactics to take down an object 1/16th this size."
"Nah, its cool, just throw a few x-wings at it. I got you bruh"
also, the new republic was also focusing on bringing order back to the galaxy, trade disputes and all that. I guess they figured the first order was the least of their worries.
> After all that time, the rebels are still using shlockly technology? Where was the Republic fleet? Where were the big ships? Did they just kick back and get old for ~30 years?
the resistance is operating as a separate entity from the new republic, whose current chancellor didn't consider the first order a threat. Oh if only he could have foreseen the consequences of his actions, maybe the hosnian system would have been spared the same fate as alderaan.
Saw a trailer for Alvin and the Chipmunks recently on TV and the first thing I heard was a high pitched voice screaming "I LIKE BIG BUTTS AND I CANNOT LIE"
Someone spent months animating that.
the star wars should give a apology for the ****** characters and stolen plot and racist diversity quota. this star wars movie was **** and all of you know it. you are just going to make it like AVatar where everyone thinks its great for 5 minutes then forget it. **** all
i dont like people like you who try to rhetorically question everything in an attempt to be boring. you're a boring person. star wars was a boring movie. hence why you liked it
you're white aren't you? this sounds like something a white person with white guilt would say. are we people of color your nice little hand me downs? we can only step into roles that white people pioneered? we can't have our own? get out of here racist
Giving this much of a **** about race and sex.
They all played their parts at least decently. I'm there for the story, not the actors because I like Star Wars, not white people in Star Wars. This felt better than the prequel trilogy, because it was better than the prequel trilogy, and some people even say it's better than Return of the Jedi (probably because no Ewoks).
Would you mind telling us why, specifically, you thought it was **** ?
Most of the cast are white males. Not that that's a problem, just saying.
the worst thing about this movie is Kylo Ren. There's nothing about him that's menacing, intimidating or compelling. It's like he was the only one they could find that had some abilities with the force so they tried to make him a sith.
I hope we get a new bad guy honestly. Darth Maul was great and barely spoke.
In fact Anakin in the episode 3 is a better bad guy
