Go eat a dick, if you know touch typing it's one of the most relaxed keyboards available, with one of the lowest travel distance between keys.
#53 to #52 - shorea (01/11/2016) [-]
what? I ain't travelling anywhere.

about 2 keys change per key, easiest transition in my life and so worth it. Go do it and no regrets
User avatar #55 to #54 - shorea (01/11/2016) [-]
but... why? I don't see a single good reason for it, only bad ones.
User avatar #56 to #55 - tmgrskat (01/11/2016) [-]
No carpal tunnel syndrome if you type a lot
User avatar #57 to #56 - shorea (01/11/2016) [-]
I do type a lot and nope, haven't experienced it in a long time.
train your wrists man.

I used it as a reason to learn touch typing, I used to type like a retard because of WASD

Is that layout a regional thing, or are you just weird?
User avatar #11 to #10 - edgecutter ONLINE (01/11/2016) [-]
Just about the entirety of Western Europe, excluding the UK, uses a similar one.
You have Belgian AZERTY, French AZERTY, Dutch AZERTY, German AZERTY, etc.
Each with their own respective little accents for the various languages.

It's a pain playing games that don't: a) immediately switch to QWERTY upon playing it, or b) you have to re-map all the keys yourself

To be truly weird, you need to use a DVORAK keyboard layout.

you trippin we use qwertz

I used a german keyboard for a few years and it was QWERTZ, and the dutch use QWERTY. French and Belgian is AZERTY though, you're right on those.

psssst it's a french thing. no other respectable country in the world uses azert, just the frenchies
#26 to #20 - applemoose (01/11/2016) [-]
Hey, we belgians aren't frenchies.
User avatar #19 to #11 - seras (01/11/2016) [-]

Never seen this layout in The Netherlands, or ever for that matter.
And after a quick Google search I've found out that only French speaking country's use it.
So no clue why you say that most western Europe uses it.

Eh, maybe it isn't as common as I thought.
I just know a few Dutch who're very much used to the layout, and I've pretty much used this in my entire life, despite not being french.

German layout is QWERTZ

For a moment, I thought, "What the **** , my keyboard is QWERTZ, what the **** is wrong?" Then I remembered it's just the way it's supposed to be.

Éire also uses qwerty

dont know where you got the idea from that germans use azerty
User avatar #12 to #11 - kugis (01/11/2016) [-]
I'm from Czech rep and I've honestly never seen anyone use this. QWERTZ is the standard here.
User avatar #34 to #12 - thesecretbear (01/11/2016) [-]
QWERTZ? AZERTY? Are there any other odd setups I should know about?
User avatar #50 to #34 - shorea (01/11/2016) [-]
standard QWERTY in Poland, we've been using QWERTZ pre 90s on writting machines, but we transfered, like anyone with a brain should do, to a standard english keyboard.
to get polish symbols we just use right alt.

Apart from my University, this keyboard layout is pretty standard here.
