Looks like the dodged a bullet

If he hadn't visited the doctor that soon then it would've been over for him

when i was little i learned what
schizophrenia was from TV and for a
while i was really afraid because i
thought i had it since i always heard
my own voice in my head so finally i
told a doctor and he informed me
that what i was experiencing was
called thinking.

This is so lovely. One post on a person thinking he has mental disorders and suddenly half of funnyjunk comes out explaining in vivid detail, every last piece of their own disorder and how it affects their life

I suppose this is why doctors warn people about self-diagnosis

As a kid, I never wanted to get my sideburns shaved off because I thought they held my hair on like little velcro straps.

This is one of those stupid types of things that everyone goes through. I get random bad chest pains sometimes (haven't really figured out what it is yet) and when I was little I thought I kept having heart attacks.

I never heard my thoughts as my own voice..just as thoughts. Saw this post and tried it out. I can summon the voice of anyone, in my head, now!

I pretty sure I did have schizophrenia. I used to hear voices talking and everything seemed like it was moving really fast including the voices so I couldn't hear what they were saying. It went away though and hasn't come back.

i've had psychosis for a couple years, but that doesn't mean i have schizophrenia. hearing voices can be common and does happen to a lot of people, the mistake that people make is that they hear the voices inside their head. someone like me who has psychosis hears voices both inside their head and externally, it's when those voices become external or hallucinations become apparent that it can develop to psychosis. once dissociation becomes severe and your perception of your surroundings becomes blurred, only then do you have schizophrenia

Dated a chick with scizoeffective disorder.. One of my favorite experiences since she was always paranoid and depressed so I took it upon myself to prove my affection every chance I had and keep her happy.

I have schizophrenia. It's not too bad anymore. I think I inherited whatever in the brain that goes wrong that contributes to it from my mom. She used to talk to ghost and shadows and they always told her to kill herself. When I was little, like 5 to 9 years give or take, I was treated and they thought I was fine when I stopped going. Then later in life I didn't realize anything was wrong until around high school and I was really messed up for a while but I'm fine now. I just have different experiences with things and remember things differently. When asked about a certain events I usually tell my side and someone else who was present just has to correct whatever I say and I just have to accept it. I'm not like "A Beautiful Mind" schizophrenic necessarily, just some things are out of place and stuff. Like one time I was upset with my dad because he beat the **** out of me and even broke my dresser by slamming me into it. I was mad at him for a few days, and then he came back from being out of town on a business trip. Who broke my dresser? Most likely me I guess, but he wasn't even home that week. I'm just used to things that don't really happen, and I don't even try to explain them anymore.

My brother was actually diagnosed with schizophrenia way back when. He was poking kids in the back of the head with sharpened pencils. When asked why he did it, he said it was because of the voice in his head. boom schizophrenia.
Two years. Two years it took for them to figure out it was just him thinking.
