Most of us are fine but coastal cities with rivers running through Etc. are 15inches under water at some stages, but its just bad luck because the rivers flooded from rain during high tide and its went up the river and flooded the lot. Also we are having some really ****** weather as usual which kinda started it. Should die down in the next few days or so then its clean sailing through Spring and Summer, Hopefully.

My entire street, which is a low part of the neighbourhood, flooded with half a foot of water.
Water was deep enough to float down the street in an inner tube.
It was utter hell. mould and mildew and good god i hope no one ever has to deal with that **** .

Hadrostatic pressure is a physical phenomenon observed in fluid and gas bodies in a gravitational field. Because particles in the body are pulled towards the center of gravity (ergo downwards) with a force relative to their mass, they "push" the particles bellow them. These particles are also subject to gravitational force and push on other particles further bellow in turn. The resulting pressure is called hydrostatic pressure and is the sum of the force excersised by a vertical column of particles in a fluid body. Because it is generated trough gravitational force, only one dimension of the body is relevant: the height. And because different materials have different density, a column of the same height will have different pressure if it consists of a different material.

For example, 10 meter high column of water will have roughly the same pressure measured at its bottom as the column of our atmosphere (air), which is a few hundred km in height. This is around 100 kPa (atmosphere is standard 101.3 kPa, give or take irl)

This phenomenon can be observed trough connected containers - two bottles connected with a tube on the bottom, open on top. Their diameter can be different.
When a fluid is poured into one bottle, it will flow trough the tube to the second bottle, untill the water level in both is at the same height relative to the center of gravity (center of planet Earth, roughly speaking).
