charity

My neighbours are hosting some sort of charity extent thing and they' got a
live band going on and they' re pretty good
So when they finished a song I yelled out a "woo!" And then I just hear, "is
that a neighbour?" Over the microphone.
You' re really good" I say because, well, what else do I say when I' m yelling
over 4 acres of bushland during the night?
Then I just get a really awkward reply of "thank you" and now I' m just sitting
outside in the cold listening when the last song comes up and:
This one is dedicated to the random neighbourhood is hopefully still listening
to this for free"

Support local drummers, give them your spare change

why drummers? Bass players are the ones that make dick all. Trust me, i chose the wrong instrument

Some of the greatest songs i've ever heard are written by bassists. Look at Animals As Leaders for example. Animals As Leaders - Physical Education (Official Music Video)

User avatar #50 to #49 - malacyman (08/29/2015) [-]

User avatar #51 to #50 - Marker ONLINE (08/29/2015) [-]
I have not.
But I'm referencing things like "What do you call a drummer that just got dumped? Homeless.", "What do you call three musicians and a drummer? A band."

Those are both bass player jokes haha.

He's not paying for ticket at charity, so it's kinda like piracy or illegal music downloading

The independent musicians yes, but the record label? **** no, musicians only make a small small small fraction of a percent on music sales most of their income come from concerts.

Again I'm talking about record label musicians not indie.
User avatar #42 to #2 - Marker ONLINE (08/29/2015) [-]
Did you know that at Grateful Dead concerts in the '80s, so many people were using recording devices that instead of trying to stop them, the Dead gave them a designated section for it? Those bootlegs are played on satellite radio very often.
User avatar #43 to #42 - hunman (08/29/2015) [-]
We should be grateful for that, then

Yes because it's not like they make money from the consumers that fork out for concerts or anything.

artists make more from concerts and live events than they do from CD/digital music sales.

Never did understand why people get pissed off about this kind of stuff.
If someone's music is loud enough for others to hear from their houses, what are they supposed to do? Wear ear plugs until it's over?
User avatar #23 - jacklane (08/28/2015) [-]
I don't understand the funny. and why would they think anyone is listening for free?
User avatar #25 to #23 - kiaserzerg (08/28/2015) [-]
the person, 4 acres away, who didnt pay for a ticket to the charity event.

maybe you shouldnt play your music in a public place you ******* monkey twat
#19 to #12 - adr (08/28/2015) [-]
"4 acres of bushland" implies it is pretty far from what would be considered public
#22 to #19 - skebaba ONLINE (08/28/2015) [-]
Yes, but if it carries out all the way to OP's house, then it's perfectly fine. Maybe tone it the **** down?
#33 to #22 - adr (08/29/2015) [-]
Have you ever been in the country? Sound travels a long ways without anything to break it. I could hear cows mooing from over a mile away some nights.
#45 to #33 - amuzen ONLINE (08/29/2015) [-]
Bushland implies it's at least moderately forested. if it were Farmland sure sound carries across that almost as well it does across a lake but if they can hear it enough to enjoy it across 4 acres of bush land then it's concert levels of loud which they shouldn't really be doing in an area with residents without first getting permission from everyone within the range of their music. I'm sure they didn't mean anything to backhanded about the listening to this for free thing but yeah it's still sort of a rude comment at worst and inconsiderate at best.
#46 to #45 - adr (08/29/2015) [-]
You would think that, but I lived on 17 acres which was forested and I could still clearly hear music coming from parties my neighbors used to throw and they lived close to a mile away through trees. Sound just really carries in the country at night.
