Huh ... maybe your great grandfather knew the guy's that shot my great grandfather - September 1944 in Warsaw , at night ... 9 of them .
That would be a funny / strange coincidence ...

but thinking of it 7 of them got hanged for killing a german officer ... so maybe not

Fun fact of the day. The Germans did some training exercises with cardboard tanks, and Polish spies say it. So they charged tanks with lances, thinking they were made with cardboard. Several Polish POW's were seen punching tanks and being surprised to find they were indeed made of metal.

Thats false the Polish did use Calvary but they didn't charge the tanks. Calvary where used to get troops place to place. The battle of Krojanty where a group of horsemen charge an infantry division and made them retreat. The Germans called in tanks, the calvary men knowing that it's suicide to charge against tanks. so they retreated. Also they didn't charge the tanks they circled them distracting the gunner and driver so there armored infantry can get set up.

a lot of pictures taken of weapons and armor were cardboard cutouts and inflatables. both sides used propaganda to scare their enemies.
