this isn't "mind blowing" because there is nothing to back it up.

In fact, i can prove it's incorrect.

If this is true, then it means the only point of the universe is so that it can challenge us to figure out its purpose.

I just figured this out, any yet the universe is still here.

Checkmate.

But if you were incorrect as to its purpose, then it would not change as you did not find it's purpose, it could have just as easily have the purpose of not allowing us to know it's purpose, or else it would be forced to restart, in which case I just found it out.
Or it's purpose could be so inconceivably massive that we could not figure out, therefore we know what protects the knowledge that is the inner workings of the universe, but we do not know the inner workings in itself.

or, you know, you could just assume that

A: that isn't the entirety of the purpose of the universe

B: that isn't actually the purpose of the universe, it's just how it works
or
C: that previously was the entire purpose of the universe but as stated in the second theory, the previous universe in which that was the entire purpose was replaced instantaneously by a new universe with a new purpose

and assuming it's C, if you wanted to get really into this **** you could speculate about whether we are the same selves that previously existed in the past universe but we have no recollection of the universe rebooting/being replaced
or
we are completely new selves with a consciousness derived from the previous versions of ourselves and implanted memories, etc

It still isn't mind blowing because there is nothing to back it up.
Something is mind blowing when you can conceive of the possibility.

Well, your first points ****** up because your seconds points right. I can think the idea is true whether or not there is nothing to back it up. It's just an idea; nothing proves against it, either, to say the TRUE purpose of this universe has been already been found out.
(I'm not saying it's true, just pointing out something.)

first of all, "mind blowing" is an opinionated phrase so what's mind blowing to you might be average to someone else and vise versa
also if it's plausible that means there's at least a little bit of something to back it up. just because theories about **** like black holes don't have a ton of solid evidence doesn't mean they're any less cool
wait... something is mind blowing when you can conceive the possibility? dude, being able to think about something and having evidence about it are two totally different things. plus it seems possible to me so its mind blowing by your logic
User avatar #73 to #68 - Lilstow ONLINE (02/10/2013) [-]
This theory comes from a science fiction book.
do you really find it mind blowing?

what i mean about the need to be able to conceive of it really only applies to silly made up theories like this one.
If i had a theory that discovering the meaning of life would turn all people into ducks, would this blow your mind?
User avatar #75 to #73 - snigrog (02/10/2013) [-]
that isn't plausible because you haven't explained it at all. if you explained mechanics behind it and it answered questions yes it would be mind blowing
User avatar #76 to #75 - Lilstow ONLINE (02/10/2013) [-]
You are starting to understand my point.
Read the OP's post again
No mechanics were explained there either.
That theory is equally as baseless as my silly duck theory.
User avatar #74 to #73 - Lilstow ONLINE (02/10/2013) [-]
When i say "conceive of the possibility" i don't mean something concreate.
when you read about children show theories that may not be true, but have a hint of evidence that makes you think.

Your mind is blown when it is overloaded with thought.
This post doesn't make make me think enough to be considered a "blown mind"

what if it isnt the real meaning?

Wrong. The universe is still the same because you came to the wrong conclusion. Lol the universe isn't that plain and simple.
User avatar #57 to #54 - Lilstow ONLINE (02/10/2013) [-]
You anons are retarded.
We're assuming that OP's drivel is correct.
OP's post creates a paradox.
