There is no explosion in and Otto, Diesel or Wankel but the it is mistaken for an "explosion" which is actually a combustion! ;)

I was taught that when I was 13. I've been using it ever since.

I remember going to a Mazda dealership looking for a new car. The salesman overheard me saying I liked the looks of the RX-8, though I was more set on buying a Mazda3. He went on bragging about how cool the RX-8 was. I told him, Yeah, I'm not going to buy that car. My dad's a mechanic, and I know how unreliable and annoying their rotory engine is. The salesman responded with "Yeah, but the good news is we JUST replaced the engine, so you don't have to worry!"

kudos, so seldom does anything car related get thumbs here.

also: Mazda recently stopped making rotary engines for production. they're still producing and researching them, they just use more gas so it's an in house project now
