Unfortunately, that isn't how it works. The article is terrible, but the comments describe it pretty well.
It doesn't make it so that you can't feel the object. If you make a mattress, you can still feel the ground beneath you. It hides bumps and the likes, so you could lay on very rocky ground and not feel a single one of the rocks.

Nowadays, gems are classified by gemologists using a system of properties. This is mainly chemical composition, habit, crystal system, refractive index, dispersion, specific gravity, hardness, cleavage, fracture, and luster. Another classification is also in terms of water, which is really the transparency of the gem. These all determine precious gems and semi-precious gems and distinguish gems from different species like corundum.

Concerning a diamond, a diamond is considered a gem specifically because it occurs as an octahedron in crystal system, but a diamond is now classified as a gem through the 4 Cs: Clarity, colour, cut and carat. It is a state of the element but it is a gemstone when it applies to the 4 Cs in a certain form. I'm not sure, but smaller diamonds that can adorn jewellery are more identified as a gemstone to people than other ones like blackened diamonds which are technically diamonds but don't act as a jewellery adornment because they don't like nice.

I hope that helps. Just remember that this isn't my subject so I might not be accurate with everything, so there may be people correcting it.

Watch out son, we bout to do some math or whatever.
Low end games can run at 30 FPS.
High end games run at 60 FPS.
Official slow motion begins at 120 frames per second, when the video or game runs at half the speed of real time.
Extreme slow motion takes place at 1800 to around 29 000 Frames per second, when even the fastest bullet velocities are caught moving at a dreary pace.
Any more frames per second would render the quality of the video either too dark to see or to slow to watch without getting bored. Game play is impossible.
1 000 000 000 000 frames per second can slow down light to a crawl and scientists are speculating whether or not to patent it into something that can show how fresh a tomato is.
Running at 12.734 quinitllion frames per second would the equivalent of watching the Andromeda galaxy move towards the Milky Way galaxy over 2.5 million light years away in real time.

Well that's cool and all, but the fps doesn't necessarily only mean the visible framerate. It also defines how often the game is simulated. Sort of like a tick rate, but I think i varies from engine to engine. So you could have your character simulated moving 12.734 quinitllion times per second. Now only if networks had less latency...

I'm no explain anything, but ill try. When we are talking about the speed of frames per second in the sense of movies and or other film sources, its how fast we take pictures and them play them back at a different speed. Say recording something in 20 fps then playing it back on a projector that goes at 10 fps. It can also be achieved by inserting "new frames" into the film, which is either just the same image again or a mix between one and the next.
Now fps in games is how fresh the image of the game is being refreshed, rather than being displayed so to speak. By increasing the fps, we don't slow down the game down just increase how smooth it is in the refresh. A 1 frame per second game would refresh every 1 second and be impossible to play, having such a large rate of refresh would just make it seem as though there is no pause in the transmitting of the images.
TLDR: fps in film is how fast we are recording or projecting, fps in games is how fast we are refreshing.

I don't really like anything roflstorm has written, simply because he declares some shutter speeds as "official". Slow-Motion is simply viewing the images as a result of the shutter speed at a slower speed than we regularly perceive, and I've not heard of being able to view 1,000,000,000,000 frames per second as a shutter speed before, but I don't really take interest in cameras. I know about FPS in games, but that's the limit.
