Anyone else ever think Mars was once a planet like Earth long ago, but progressed to far industrially and ended up destroying themselves?

Not all destructive climate change is brought upon by a sapient species.
And not every planet with life on it will have a sapient species.
Even if Mars was like earth once, I doubt there would ever have been a sophont civilization on it.
The reason Mars is the way it is now, I can assure you, is not that dramatic.
