It's not funny but you learned something you 12 year-olds.

Our Sun and the Fate of
the Earth.
Meet your friendly neighborhood star. It formed
almost 4. 57 billion years ago from the collapse of
part of a giant molecular cloud that consisted
mostly of hydrogen and helium
As time passed the Earth and rest of the solar
system were formed and pulled into orbit. It is
also clear to note that the sun today is 15% larger
than when it was in it' s infancy.
The Sun, right now is about halfway throug) 1 its
magniloquence stage, during which nuclear fusion
reactions in its core fuse hydrogen into helium.
Each second, more than four million tonnes of
matter are convened into energy within the Sun' s
core, producing neutrinos and solar radiation.
At this rate, the Sun has so far converted around
100 Earthiness's of matter into energy. The Sun
will spend a total of approximately 10 billion
years as a magniloquence star.
In about 900, 000 years the sun will become so hot
that life will not be able to be sustained on Earth.
In about I billion years the Earths oceans will
evaporate. As this happens the hydrogen from it
will be permanently lost in space. It is predicted
that in 3 billion years there will be no more water
left on Earth.
The ' s atmosphere and lithosphere will
become like those of Venus. Over another billion
years, most of the atmosphere will get lost in space
as well, ultimately leaving Earth as a dead planet
with a surface of molten rock.
The sun does not have enough mass to go super
nova (explode). Instead, when the sun has used up
all it' s hydrogen it will lose 38% of it' s mass. It' s
radius will then expand to a minimum of 200
times its current value engulfed the inner planets
up to Earth). This process will result in the sun
becoming a red giant.
Earth' s future is uncertain. It will either be
engulfed by the sun or will just barely ecape being
swallowed. However it will have to achieve a
widening of it' s orbit
Earth could technically achieve a widening of its
orbit and could potentially maintain a sufficiently
high angular velocity to keep it from becoming
engulfed. In order to do so, its orbit needs to
increase to between 190, 000, 000 km and
250, 000, 000 km.
But, the results of studies announced in 2008
show that due to tidal Interaction between Sun and
Earth would actually fall back into a lower
orbit, and get engulfed and incorporated inside the
sun before the Sun reaches its largest size.
Ultimately, Earth will not be able to sustain life if
it is engulfed by the sun or it escapes. This
information leaves us to wonder if another planet
in this solar system will be able to sustain life after
the expands.

Already now are we working on expanding to other planets.
If youre rich enough you can already buy a place on the moon now, you just need to wait a few years until you can actually move :).

But moving from planet to planet will be within our lifetime, now the real science is in space travel and exploring outer parts of our galaxy so we can also survive if something should happend to our solar system.
In hundreds of years maybe we will be able to terraform planets to make them earthlike.
I promise you one thing... the earths death will not be ours, well at least not if its the sun that will kill of earth, i wont speak on behalf of comets.

On another note, if humanity still lives on earth in these millions of years it takes for the Sun to ''kill off'' earth, then im sure we have the technology to control such events.
If humanity still lives we will surely been evovled into a ''stage 3'' society, which expands over thousand of solar system, control god like technology such as controlling stars, black holes, time and space.
In the last 100 years we have evovled our technology more than we had in the 20000 years previous the 100. Imagine how much we can do in 1000 years when recources and fuel is no longer an obstuction.
Some people say that we as a generation is the luckiest generation that have and will ever live in human existence, we will see some of the first and most important steps in ''future science''. Some of the leading scientists say that the first man to live to be 1000 years already lives today, and everyone under he age of 40 can expect to live longer than any other person have ever lived before us, we will be the generation that explores the universe, buy houses on mars, befriends robots and maybe if we are lucky one day also meet an alien.

Im no expert in all of this, i just love to read, keep informed and dream.
But i honestly think that we as a generation will live a future world unlike anything we could ever imagnine!

yeah, but in 900,000 years, humans will have colonized other planets (hopefully), or killed themselves off with pollution

And all we've accomplished so far is space travel!!
How the Hell are we going to catch up in all that wasted time?!?!?!

Yeah but do you know how impossibly far other planets are?

The closest star to the Earth is Proxima Centauri, approximately 4.24 light years away. That means, that even if we were somehow able to travel anywhere near the speed of light, it would take 4.24 years to reach that star. And that's if the star even has any hospitable planets.

tl;dr - stuff is far, doubt we can reach it.

I have one wish. It's a pathetic wish, but one I would sorely love to have granted.

I want to see what happens to humanity. I want to live through our entire species' existence and see what becomes of us. Do we venture into space and colonise new planets and solar systems? Do we encounter an alien race? Do we ever become extinct and cease to be? I want to know what happens to us. I wish I could live long enough to experience our entire future, and see it all with my own eyes as a member of the human race, being right in the thick of it all.

But it's only a wish, a dream.

Remember friend, the chances of the Human races being duplicated are quite high, you may live in another life to see the future!

That might happen some time after we ascend to a higher plane of existence, or if we're lucky after we reach Time Lord level technology.

One of your figures there... Life on earth will end in 900000 years?
There has been life on earth for about 3.7 billion years and I find it hard to believe that we're already well into our last million of years. Most estimates I've read is that earth will become uninhabitable in another billion years (from the sun growing). Of course, there are always supervolcanoes and asteroid hits to worry about. For example, i live close to a 375 million year old asteroid crated with a diameter of 52 km. That must have been a bit of a bang.

Found it. Too low CO2 levels, making all plant life suffocate. Guess we shouldn't be in such a hurry to lower the CO2 emissions, amirite?

I doubt the human race will be around in 1,000 years, so whatever. And if we are, by then we'll probably have figured out how to get to other planets.

Pic worth the read if space and stuff interests you.

We've around for at least 7,000 years. Why not 1,000 more?

Yeah, but life 7,000 years ago was a lot more simple. Nowhere near as populated as it is now. We didn't have all the wars and nuclear bombs back then either.

The most likely scenario to the extinction of mankind is that we'll probably blow ourselves off the face of the Earth.

Or the Mayans were right and the world will end in December, in which case, meh.

Actual conversation between me and stupid ******* Mexican in my class a couple months ago

Wetback - So did you know that if the sun was even an inch closer to the Earth, we would all burn up.

Me - Did you seriously just say that?..

Beaner - Yeah, that's why the rocket ships burn up when they're going into space.

At this point, my brain basically grew 12 tumors at the idiocracy of this ******* tacobender. This was a real ******* conversation and I almost had a stroke.
User avatar #94 to #82 - stiffbeefyone (06/04/2012) [-]
It's funny how ignorant you sound. Just because it was a stupid mexican, they all have to be stupid. I am Mexican, and I run into ALOT of stupid whites, blacks, asians, mexicans. Doesn't only pertain to one race. The "High Functioning Retards" engulf ALL races. So next time you decide to be ignorant, try to at least be slightly educated. Even a 5 year old can understand that more that you probably can.

You're obviously the ignorant one here.

Why use all the racial slurs? Are you that weakminded that you need to use those words to get your point across? I can get my point across without using racial slurs like a 5 year old. Grow up.
