An an IT consultant, chemistry does not directly benefit my life. It does not put food on my table, and it does not feed my family. Now it may benefit me indirectly through discoveries made by people that deal directly with it, but hey. Still not a direct benefit.

Hence: it does not benefit my way of life. Oh and you're not from America? Well you definitely fooled me!

Those are less of benefits and more of a necessity, wouldn't you say? Without a properly working body, I would die. Without a properly working sun, we would all die. I never said chemistry isn't a necessity. I said chemistry itself does not directly benefit my way of life.

Maybe you should fully understand your language, before using it?

Do you take medicine? If you had a serious medical problem and a medicine could prolong you're life for your kids I would say thats a benifit.

If you are dead you cannot put food on the table. Therefore, by your definition, that is a direct benifit that chemistry can provide.

Also with a basic knowledge of chemistry you can really avoid a lot of scams, people sell a lot of bullshit or try to charge you more for a brand name of the same chemical, saving money puts more food on the table.

If you look back to my previous post, you'll see that I said "Yes, because so many of us remember useless shit that in no way benefits our way of life." Implying that, while the underlying cause of its discovery is essential, it does not benefit most of us to have a full understanding of the information. You've just yet again confused yourself into thinking I said chemistry itself is pointless and unnecessary.
