it's fake, the puddle of mercury's volume isnt consistent to the size of the sphere

Wouldn't they just split into 2 mercury balls?
surely their surface tension wouldn't let them just turn into a puddle...

I'm afraid this is fake.
First, for mercury to be in a solid state, it requires it to be very very cold.
Second, when mercury is cold, it shrinks like a dick in an ice tray.
Third, for it to rapidly melt into a puddle, it would have had to have gotten hot very fast.
Fourth, the puddles would have blobbled outward like an Amoeba, and have expanded to cover much more surface area, or shatter into beads.

Sorry but I really had to get that out. I'm a tad obsessed with physics.

Come on guys, how is this getting so many thumbs?

This is obviously fake for a few reasons
1. Why would a bead of mercury change its state of matter when sliced in half?
2.How did it magically get sliced in half? I see no cutting tool.
3. Why did the mercury make 2 perfectly sized puddles with the same ripple formation
4. Most importantly LOOK ITS OBVIOUSLY COMPUTER GENERATED

The intelligence of FJ is dropping.

the change from a solid to a liquid wouldn't be that dramatic, it would take time to go from one state of mater to the next, that and as some one whos taken classes on animation.... its fake....
#20 to #15 - micota (05/31/2012) [-]
mercury doesn't lie flat when in liquid state, its surface tension is way too high

Saw the original vid on a youtube trawling one day, it's actually someone who was just experimenting with some new 3D animation software. That said, it's still cool though.
