Think of a piece of lined graph paper, that is infinitely large.
Now imagine the paper is being stretched so the lines get further apart. It is still infinitely large, it is just being stretched apparently larger.

yeeeah but its expanding fast enough (at the speed of light) so nothing could ever reach the end of it, therefore it is effectively infinite. At least thats what i think scientists think

Actually the universe isn't expanding. the universe is... what "IS" expanding is that the light from the "edge" of the universe is just now reaching us. if you were to go to the edge of the univers as we know it. and from a planet there. in today's time. Earth would have just expanded into sight. but we all know that were living here and stuff. but to them they would see it as if earth was just born
