These things are vastly exaggerated. A computer can really only do what we tell it to. If it can be programmed, it can be hacked.
Besides that, their algorithms will be easy to figure out. We'd know their tactics to the letter.

but what if they self evolve. If a machine can self repair then maybe it can start learning then upgrading itself.

Only via algorithms that we could teach it. We could give a virus a similar self-improvement algorithm and keep infecting the computer with it until they were both so damaged we could just walk in and kick the PC or whatever.
