It's actually something called Pharaoh's Serpent, which as pointed out is Mercury (II) Thiocynate, and was used as Fireworks up until relatively recently, when somebody realized that the compound made out of mercury contains mercury, and so the toxic gas it releases kills you. Black snake fireworks are actually made up of Sodium bicarbonate, and is less toxic at the cost of being less fucking awesome.
