Okay, say you got an empty cup, and filled it up halfway, wouldnt that be considered "Half full?"

Yet, if you were to fill it up completely, then empty half of it out into the sink, wouldnt that be considered "Half empty?"

why can't it just be like, if you are filling the glass and hit the mid point, then the glass is half full and if you are emptying the glass and then hit the halfway point it's half empty?

MAKING ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT PUTTING EXACT NUMBERS ON SOMETHING THAT CAN ONLY BE THOUGHT OF IN THE SENSE OF A PROBABILITY FUNCTION? That's just bad math

I'm calling shenanigans; in the medium sized world in which we interact with day by day, that glass is 50% full guaranteed (liquids take the shape of their containers, durr I know), and maybe ~45% of air. Gas molecules tend to ricochet and chaotically travel every which way, meaning that it will not fill up the top 50% uniformly.
That "99%" empty garbage gets on my plums a little bit; yes, it is true, but it makes little to no effect on how we interact with our world at the macro level. On the phemto level, yes it does, but that's hardly anything for the layman to worry about.
