Nah, there's one inside the other.
The first one is sort of splitting in half, so we'd hope that wasn't supposed to be a realistic interpretation.
The intact, inner sphere is spinning from East to West, which is wrong.

He is (half) right. The first and outermost globe splits in half- the top half spins incorrectly, the bottom half correctly. The entire inner globe spins incorrectly.

They are talking about the globe inside. So he's not right at all since he misunderstood the situation.

I didn't misunderstand the situation... I wasn't specifically speaking of the globe inside but the one outside as well, which has both spheres going in opposite direction.
