Jupiters atmosphere is mostly composed of liquid elements ( cant remember off the top of my head, with two primary ones) Other than this, jupiter has a gassy atmosphere that will crush you, and then you will reach this liquid part. This liquid part is what makes up most of the planet, with the innermost being like slushy ice.

You're correct, its 'mainly' gas but there is a solid part in it, also the gravitational pull would make the meteor get into its orbit and burn. I think this is the video of it:

Can you show some sauce on your info? I had been following it since the day it happened and four things I saw from reports were a) they still have not determined the size of what hit Jupiter, b) they don't know if it was an asteroid, comet, or meteor, c) no one ever said it was on a collision course with Earth, and d) I know my alphabet. I hadn't heard it was going to hit Earth until I saw this comic on FJ (back in September)
