Aaaaah. But of course!

im gonna try and guess whats happining the powder is really dry and when the straw gets pulled up through it the straw must have been carring liquid up throught the powder making the powder fall from the top and spread longer and i guess the powder doesnt like mixing with the liquid it must be like really thick liquid but it seemed to blend enough to stick together

the powder carries up the fluid somehow, both are "mixing" while pulled up without actually mixing. that would be explainable if both substances are either polar, or both are unpolar (polar is more likely though, as the forces are stronger there)

The powder is dry but when the straw goes though the liquid to pick it up instead of just moving around the straw like some powders would do instead it uses the liquid like an adhesive to keep all the of the powder together spreading thin because it doesn't want to be dry

the powder acts like a thickener. when it touched the candy water it started to become semi-solid. strong enough to hold together but soft enough to be sweet and chewy
