Seeing really cool gifs isn't learning.

intg(x^2+3)dx = (x^3)/3+3x

damn
you win
#29 to #28 - N. Korean citizen (06/01/2012) [-]
actually not quite. Forgot to add the constant. The full answer is (x^3)/3 + 3x + C. You forget shit like that over summer.
#30 to #29 - srskate ONLINE (06/01/2012) [-]
SO THAT DOES MATTER

It kept bothering me that when you take the derivative, you lose the constant. I kept wondering what happened to it. It raised even more questions when we learned integrals were the opposite of derivatives (about two days ago}. I wondered how you'd get the constant back.

I am now satisfied.

just wait until you start taking second and third partials where you have to find C with respect to X and then Y and the reverse. It sucks. Or you could just not major in engineering in college.
User avatar #36 to #35 - srskate ONLINE (06/01/2012) [-]
not an option, Chemical engineering all the way
#37 to #36 - zmankellan ONLINE (06/01/2012) [-]
oh jesus. I know too many Chem E people to tell you to have fun. It's not fun. The only thing worse is M.E. (my hell until now) or Electrical. M.E. is tough, but E.E. just makes you monumentally strange.

Mechanical engineering?
Wonderful, that is another interest of mine.

I want to build cool stuff
#40 to #39 - zmankellan ONLINE (06/01/2012) [-]
so did I. Then they stuck us in a room to do everything on the computer. I'm switching to I.E. So much easier and with a little mechanical background, you get the same jobs.

You lost me with that acronym

and will it help if i get credit from AP classes in high school?
#44 to #41 - zmankellan ONLINE (06/01/2012) [-]
Industrial Engineering. The art of making things more efficient. And AP credits only go so far. I just finished a class that I went into college with pretty much no credits and the person next to me took all AP everything. They were a year ahead of me and still in that god forsaken class. May I ask, what universities are you looking into?
User avatar #45 to #44 - srskate ONLINE (06/01/2012) [-]
Penn State is my goal

University of Maryland is my back-up
And AP courses will look good on an application at least.
May I ask what the worst parts about getting a C.E. or M.E. degree are? (I heard Organic chem is killer, but i havent heard much else)
#46 to #45 - zmankellan ONLINE (06/01/2012) [-]
not sure at those. I'm a little farther south lol. Organic is a bitch, but it's the mixture of classes in your major and gen eds for your major. Friggin statics and dynamics mixed with Diff. equations was hell. My advice? find people who're goin down the same path as you early and find which courses to take, in what order, and with which teacher. It makes a world of difference.
User avatar #48 to #46 - srskate ONLINE (06/01/2012) [-]
That advice will be taken to heart.
Hell, I'm already doing that now in highschool in a few ways.

Wanna continue this conversation later, i need to sleep (school hasnt let out yet)
User avatar #31 to #30 - ItsTheJuggernaut (06/01/2012) [-]
yeah the derivative of any constant is 0 so it disappears (like derivative of 2 is 0). nerdiest thread ever lol
