imagine the high def movie they could make if they use atoms to create an image.

Yeah I don't know if this is about the movement of atoms or not. But this kinda looks like a lite-brite stop motion film. .... er the style they used for the claymation films. But hey I could be wrong. That is just life. You win some you lose some.

Think about it. Do you really want a bunch of Saiyans running around? The propet damage would be horrendous.

if those are atom's then what is the back ground made of? and how are they staying in place?
User avatar #34 to #28 - UA partay (05/02/2013) [-]
Using light waves, they can take pictures of the atoms' shadows. This movie was done as an experiment by IBM.

Also, I do not know if this is correct or not, but I am assuming that the ripples all over the background as just interference patterns by the light.

These aren't atoms as such. Each dot represents a carbon monoxide molecule, which can just be seen when used specialist imaging equipment. Just had a discussion about this in class with my chemistry teacher.

Electron Microscope. Shoots electrons at thing you wanna se, they then create a patern on the other side that a computer 'decodes' into a picture.
User avatar #26 to #23 - mrwillje (05/02/2013) [-]
You can't photograph atoms with an electron microscope. The real images of there are made by photographing the shadow an atom makes, it's done with light
#29 to #26 - brainy (05/02/2013) [-]
It uses an electron beam so no it doesnt use light.
User avatar #38 to #29 - mrwillje (05/02/2013) [-]
I didn't mean an electron microscope, I meant what they used to photograph this.
User avatar #31 to #29 - collegedood (05/02/2013) [-]
still you can't see atoms with an electron microscope. you can zoom in really ******* close and know what the material is made of from radiation, but you can't see atoms
#32 to #31 - brainy (05/02/2013) [-]
Didnt say you could see the atoms, I said the electrons made a patern that the computer decodes into a picture.

They also did one called "A Boy and His Atom" almost exactly the same but instead of a trampoline, he played with an atom like a ball. It was pretty damn neat.
User avatar #33 to #7 - lillamy (05/02/2013) [-]
Actually, it's the exact same movie. "A boy and his atom" starts of by he "dancing" with it, using it as a trampoline and playing with it like a ball.
User avatar #10 to #7 - therealjc (05/02/2013) [-]
it's from the same "movie"

we can do this but not cure down syndrome
#19 to #8 - SimianLich (05/02/2013) [-]
down syndrome is caused by a lack of cromosomes. its kind of difficult to cure when stem cell research is illegal.
User avatar #21 to #19 - jacema (05/02/2013) [-]
actually it is caused by an an extra copy of chromosome 21

You've gotta be kidding me... So what emoticons set someone as an instant pariah? How the **** else are you supposed to convey the tone of an ambiguous statement, huh?! I could have said that last comment real bitter, but I meant it in a sort of cheeky tone. How do I convey that oh lord king of the internet?! How do I please you so your clench weary sphincter may know peace from this agony?!
