I am so glad FJ is aware of Tesla and his awesomeness, and for you all recognized Edison as a businessman and not a true scientist.Thank you all for being well informed and on the right side. Thanks FJ you object to opinions but when you get it right, you do it right! Tesla FTW!

I'd have to agree with Sammael above you, though. Edison is still an engineer and a great man. He just didn't originate any of the ideas he refined into a marketable product.

Never said he isn't a important person.Just that he isn't a scientist and a inventor.People insist he invented all these appliances and we all owe him so much, and that he is a inspiration. Well no. He had a profound mark on the world, he sold what inventors made. Imagine Tesla a 100% insane genius trying to sell you some of his inventions. "And here sir is a lightning machine, it can fry that pesky barking neighbor dog to dust.Practical, no?"

I don't think it's fair to say Edison had no scientific part in it, though. He had to take all these impractical sketches and notes from eccentric people like Tesla and then figure out more efficient designs and affordable materials to use. He'd have to tinker and experiment to figure out things like that. He may not have been an inventor, but he wasn't just a salesman either.

Yet he wasn't Tesla.

Don't get me wrong, Tesla's awesome. I don't think anybody can debate that.
