I am a real, totally legitimate, scientist and although I can confirm the majority of OP's scienceifical theory, there is one thing that I must correct. It is not the turtle's shell that is hollow but the body. The shell is actually the only solid part. When the turtle releases its FART it deflates like a balloon and then travels back to the surface to re-inflate.

That's how it's done OP; I don't know where you got the hollow shell thing from though. I mean honestly, where the hell did you get your scientifical degree? Do you even science?
