For those curious as to why that is.   
   
The space between the nucleus of the atom and the electron closest to it a lot.   
To put it on perspective if you put a marble in the middle (middle of the 50 yard line) of a professional football field. The nearest electron would until be the outer seats. When a neutron star is formed you take away that space. Which it is why it is so dense.

the problem is that in order to compress the matter to the density of a neutron star you would require the force of a neutron star.
