Seems like a waste of space. Honestly, people who do parkour are fags. Quit trying to be cool, and act your age. Most of the people I know who do parkour are stuck up assholes that think they are better than everybody else because the can climb a fence.

User avatar #89 to #88 - ergexgo (02/25/2013) [-]
well, parkour is getting there in the fastest possible route, free running is when you run freely and do whatever you want
that's the difference

Parkour: (Comes from the French parcours which i believe it means course.)

Comes from a Discipline developed by Georges Hebert, called "Natural Method", which involves moving from point A to Point B in the most fast, fluid and efficient manner.
It doesn't have to be pretty, it has to be effective and Dynamic.
Raimond Belle was the first one to use it as means of physical training, developing primal movements that are the cornerstone of Parkour practitioners.

Later, Sebastien Foucan and David Belle, developed Parkour (Inspired by David's father.), which is a ramification of the same concept, however, it has a bigger philosophical insight: Obstacles aren't problems, they are possibilities. Parkour was "created" in Lisses, France, and it's not about the big jumps nor about the giant leaps, but more about the smaller, more effective footwork one can manage to dominate on a daily basis. (Balance is the purest form of centered movement, which takes a giant role on Parkour.)

Free Running:

Developed by Sebastien Foucan, leaving efficiency as a second priority, while adjudicating elegance and expression as the main goal of the discipline.

It involves tricking, flipping and other methods of movement not necessarily as useful as their simplest forms.

Free Running and Parkour, are 2 sides of the same coin: Movement.
Sources: Been doing this **** for about 8 years now. (Parkour, not Free Running.)

Apparently the regular gym doesn't hold enough douchebags.

Let's make a parkour gym. That's not going to label us any less of a douchebag(s).
