Nazi Wonder Weapons PART 2

Ever wondered what German scientists did work on while the Americans
worked on thier boring bombs? Here are some examples of
achievements by the nation that gave birth to modern rocketry. And did
some other things as well.
PART 2
I want to start with something that isnt a obscure superweapon, but rather an
awesome story about a well known weapon: The , dubbed "Buzzbomb" by the
British population for its buzzing sound on approach.
1 (retaliation weapon I)
To counter the fact that skilled pilots were stretched far on the Reich' s many
battlefields, the is the very first cruise missile, fitted wich a
autopilot, capable of travelling () at a speed of / h () with
its pulse ht engine.
While they were pretty fast, they were not fast enough: The british Hawker Tempest
was capable of matching its speed, and the Tempest fleet was increased from 30 to well
over 100 to counter this threat. Additionally, they beefed up some Mustangs and
Mk XIV Spitfires to catch up to the V's speed.
Then a particularly daring spitfire alot decided not to waste his ammo on the relatively
defensless mi Hes and came up with the "Wing Tip" manouvre:
Flying up to the , he used the airflow over his wing to tip the ' s wing up,
overriding gyros and sending the V o an dive.
This is a prime example why the Bri ish pilots commanded plenty of respect in WWY.
Squadron Leader Joseph Berry of the 501st Tempest
squadron shot down 59 alone. Particularly impressive
ing the flying bombs were pretty immune to
g gun Ire and tended to take thier attacker down with
them if they detonated .
This high interception ratio of 60% - 80% in the later lifecycle of the ended
with the sucessor of the :
A giant leap in technology, the t intercontinental ballistic missile was the first
handmade object in space and is the basis of all modern rocketry. With an
operational range of ( and the insane top speed of / h
there was no way to intercept it, or even hear it coming.
The father of the " 4" (its technical name) was
SS officer Wernher Von Braun, later known as the
Father of Rocket Science". Never really much one for
war, he noted after the first tests of his rocket: "It
performed admirably, but landed on the wrong planet".
1 After the war, he became director of the Marshall
Space Flight Center at NASA and chief architect of the
Saturn V launch vehicle, bringing the Apollo spacecraft
to the surface of the moon.
The next one is really something else.
Sun Gun)
Yes, its an orbital mirror, shooting focused sun rays down to earth. Dreamt up by
Hermann Eberto, former teacher of Wernher Von Braun, this was supposed to supply
sunlight on demand, as well as boil scorch entire enemy cities and boil Denims. Using
the rockets, a spacestation was planned to serve as a base for the construction of
this kkm‘ metallic sodium mirror in high earth orbit.
To be fair, even though plans existed and were found by the allies, this was made
popular by' " magazine in 1945 publi ing the idea, while f g in the blanks
with thier own speculations and drawings, like the cubic segments.
There are still many internet legends about this, going so far as there being a manned
construction space station still up there, which was supposes to have gardens and
everything.
For the next part I will focus more on actual weapons and prototypes, promise.
What do you think? T"
Woman in the
moon" painted on
the , a symbol for
ti an spaceflight

The V2's speed is not 1760 mph, it's more like 3600mph

It's interesting....How hate works..

we mock war and hate,
yet war and hate has advanced science and technology
decades, evem centuries ahead of its usual rate.

The most hateful organization of all, the Nazis..
developed more advanced technology and
weaponry that was considered impossible in the day.
Funding that was virtually limitless, all for the sake of destroying
a fellow neighbor.

Yet, as horrible as it seems, such horrible conflicts result in fresh barren land
for new flowers to bloom. The technology that was once used to murder one another,
is now used to reach for the skies, to hug a fellow neighbor across the world,
and to make month-long travels a thing of the past.

The drones that were once known only for killing thousands are now being
tamed by civilization and being used for innocent package delivery,
and robotic exploration of unknown worlds within our Earth.

Every time we grant ourselves a new power,
we immediately use it to destroy eachother
before using it to help eachother.

No wonder he looks so smug.

"How many Germans did you shoot down Daddy?"
"None, I knocked out rockets with flying skill alone"

Also, who else thought of Die Another Day for the last one.
