No. I am sorry, but unless you are actually trained with swords and know how to keep the sword sharp and not rusty...which I guarantee 90% of the people that say "use a swords/knife" don't know....then a sword would be useless for you. And even then, it isn't half as easy to cut off somethings head as they make it seem in movies. If a zombie apocalypse would happen, there would be more deaths from people trying to stop zombies with swords and knives than there would be from people overwhelmed by them, using guns. The largest number of deaths would come from the people trying to act as heroes. Men would become far less populous than women, because of the sheer number of them going out to protect the women while they run. Anyone who stays to fight before getting set up is going to be dead. It is the cowards who will survive the initial outbreak.

Why you'd need a shotgun for burglars and home invasion when you can use an handgun? Why you'd need any weapon for putting food on the table when you can buy it at a supermarket? Why you'd need the last one unless you are paranoid and/or retarded?

Less than a week ago we had a group of thugs running around our neighborhood vandalizing cars, throwing rocks at/chasing pedestrians pedestrians broke into a couple apartments the cops would drive through with sirens and lights flashing they would hide the cops would leave wash/rinse/repeat. There were between 12-15 of them in all if they had come to my door I would pull out my cute little "HIGH CAPACITY ASSAULT WEAPON" and unload on there asses. I would proceed to call the cops so they could clean off my porch. sat down had a beer and **** my girlfriend. Why? Because I don't need to live in fear just because you're afraid of an inanimate object and depend on others to absolutely everything for you, ******* feget.

Bingo, the sound of a pump action shotgun is the universal alert for "You're in the wrong neighborhood". A gun is best used when it stops a situation without being fired, some lady was being followed by this drunk guy while she was walking home. He made some threats to her person so she displayed her concealed weapon, the drunk staggered off in a different direction. Gun was not fired and halted a possible threat.

Learning how to use guns properly is an amazing thing.

What if people want the ability to hunt in the case of some kind of disaster/apocalypse type thing (or if they just ******* LIKE it especially because it's GOOD for the ecosystem)? What if people don't want their pistol round going straight through an intruder's body and hitting a family member/damaging their property? Shotgun over handgun for home defense because it's a shot gun, i.e. buckshot, birdshot, etc. It means it shoots a lot of tiny bullets at once. And because you're not Billy the Kid, sometimes you miss. Shotguns help with that by making your AoE larger then a dime. You can even fire them from the hip if you need to. Perfect for home defense.

Sometimes people hunt not because they're hungry, but to control the population. Here, we have a ton of deer with no wolves or bears. They are top of the food chain, breed like crazy, and kill whole families in the station wagon. Turns out, they die whether they hit them head on, or swerve to miss and hit a tree head on. They have to be hunted, and I hunt them. Kill them, gut them, skin them, and will cook you the best tenderloin you've ever had in your life. It never even got cold.

Finally, assault weapons are for groups of people. You know how people have been grouping up since the beginning of time, for survival? Turns out bad people do it too, because it's easier to rape, rob, and kill that way. So in an emergency situation, where there's a group of bad guys, they're your only line of defense for one man vs many. Unless, of course, you hope your pleas into the phone will send someone with a special badge gun to your door in time. Or you're Jackie Chan with a butcher knife.

tl;dr - Handguns for concealment and maneuverability. Shotguns for the AoE. Hunting rifles for hunting. ARs for groups and fortification. Each is it's the correct tool for a specific job.

Actually we don't give a **** about damage to the wall. You use a, say a .45 handgun indoors for self defense, the bullet is going to go through the intruder, the wall behind him, and could hit someone else.

With a shotgun, assuming the pellets even penetrate the intruder, they won't go through the wall and kill someone else.

1. Shotguns are more intimidating and require lower accuracy (they shoot out a cone shaped "spray" versus one bullet) than a handgun.
2. Some people don't live near grocery stores. If I'm out in the middle of Montana two hours from the nearest town it might make more sense to hunt for meat-particularly in winter when the roads are bad.
3. Even a developed, democratic nation can descend into a horrible dictatorship. Hitler rose to power in a democracy.

The right to bear arms isn't qualified by "keeping the government in line", self defense, or hunting. The Bill of Rights outlines what every person needs to live a good life. Just because the government is a giant *********** doesn't mean the second amendment is useless

the wording of your second amendment is pretty clear

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

a free state means not being spied on imprisoned and tortured by your own government. when you just let your government do stuff like this you are wasting a very important right

Revolution is a pretty serious step and most people don't think we're there yet. You don't revolt until the vast, vast majority of people want it unless things get, like, death squad level bad. My prediction is that there won't be a revolution if things keep up like this - just one slightly unpopular act, one bad decision every so often. There has to be one major thing that happens to trigger it, like banning the internet, or removing term limits for presidents.

There are some people clamoring for revolt, but as bad as the government is, it's still pretty good. It can't be half assed. It has to be something major, especially in America where we can just wait four years and try again.

While I agree with this, it's kinda too late for the U.S. to do anything about it, so they might as well keep letting their citizens have guns...

Worrying about an event that is that statically unlikely is like worrying about a lightning strike or shark attack.

By that logic, you should be able to buy child slaves. Because it's your money.

Yep, and guess what, no crimes have ever been caused from it, besides maybe killing some rock and/or tumbleweed families.

Because they have $200k to drop on a minigun, right?
www.everydaynodaysoff.com/2009/10/21/ge-m134-mini-gun-fully-transferable/

The weapon isn't exactly portable either. You'd have to somehow carry the gun itself, it's large belt, and thousands of rounds of ammo around. If you can do that, you probably don't even need the weapon in the first place.

So yeah, basically won't happen. Same thing would happen if people could own tanks: Nothing.

That's as low as calling you a hippy for not supporting guns.
