Another thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is the passing of legislature that prevents such a guy to have a gun in the first place.

I agree, since everyone is using the drugs example, alcohol is legal, and is much less addictive than drugs and also much less dangerous in terms of your health. But every year there are much higher alcohol related deaths than drug related deaths

because it is more available, if guns were illegal there would be many less guns on the streets in the first place thus limiting the number of gun related deaths

It doesn't matter if he follows the rules or not. If he's unable to get a gun, he doesn't have a gun. Gun-related deaths in countries besides the US are so low because guns aren't available as easily.

All I'm saying is that it makes the process so much easier. Pulling a trigger and killing someone is something done in the heat of a moment. Whereas actively seeking out weapons cartels is something that requires a lot of planning and scheming. In my opinion, making guns harder to get a hold of would dissuade the average person from using a gun. After all, everyone said the guy from the Sandy Hook shooting had always seemed so normal. I bet if laws were passed that prevented people from owning a gun, such a "normal guy" wouldn't go searching for guns on the black market. I believe the availability of guns turns normal people into bad people.

This is where I disagree. I believe it is the possession of a gun that allows this. You can go right inside a walmart and buy a gun in one trip. I believe that gun related deaths are impulsive, and that by limiting the availability of guns, you eliminate the impulsive nature of their use.

Exactly. I mean really. you are practically saying "Oh, a criminal would NEVER break the law, would he?"
