I can see why people are scared of ARs. I mean, it does look powerful and scary when in reality it shoots a low caliber bullet. .223s are basically the 9mm of rifles. Plus, they do have large clips, and I can understand why people don't like that. But if you're shooting for just enjoyment or competition shooting, you want an AR so you can shoot as much as you want without worrying about melting the barrel.

Right, when in the hands of responsible people they're safe and practical. But they have the potential to do a lot of damage and some people think the solution is just to take them all away.

Imagine a crowded street. You could do FAR more damage with the average car than you ever could with 30 rounds from an AR-15.

on a crowded street you could run people over in lagre quantities if that was your intent. People who want to kill other people are going to do it by any means at their disposal. Banning a certain gun is going to do absolutely nothing to stop killings.

This is the only argument that pro-gun people use that I don't fully agree with. The whole "If someone wants to get a gun, they will." While that is true, you don't think like that in your daily life. For example, you wouldn't leave your front door unlocked because "If someone wants to break in, they're going to do it even if I have the door locked.

And that's the same as a baseball bat, for example. When in the right hands, it's used for sports. When not, it can also cause a lot of damage.
But the thing is, I think if you showed an anti-gun supporter an AR with only a five bullet clip and also showed them a typical .223 and asked which one is more dangerous, they'll say the AR even though they're the exact same gun with cosmetic differences.
