Wouldn't it be impossible to take an x-ray like this, with all the metal and stuff?

On a simple level, X-Rays work by firing electrons at dense materials such as tungsten within a vacuum. The resultant ray is fired off into the desired area and reflect back into the machine if it goes through soft tissues such as flesh and blood it creates a black spot as the rays are reflected back, when it hits a dense object such as metal the metal or bone it will leave a giant white mark as the ray is absorbed into the body.

X-Rays are halmful, but have no effect on metal what-so-ever apart from being absorbed by it. You're thinking of an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scan in which powerful as **** electromagnets work to produce an image, the resultant strength of the magnets would rip iron filings from the intestines of anyone.
