A gun be used for leisure just as much as a baseball bat can be used for killing. Just because it was built to kill doesn't mean that's the best decision. Even if we cut off firearms, get rid of violent gaming/movies/etc. those people are still insane, madness cannot be predicted so early just to take.

A knife you'd use for killing? Potentially a combat knife, or bowie knife, maybe even hunting knife. Theres more than one type of knife. And like you said yourself, a gun is a tool. Guns arent as common as you may think they are. They are usually always hidden, i've only ever seen a pistol on a cops side in public, besides that i've gone shooting with my brother.

Guns are a problem, won't deny it, its too easy for some kids to get the gun, but i'm pretty sure theres supposed to be a law about the weaponry kept in a case, or gun cabinet, unless being taken out to use for shooting or hunting. Don't hold my word for it, i'm really just pulling that out of my ass. It just seems like that is/should be a law, so if a minor gets a hold of the weapon, it is the owner of the firearms fault for letting it fall into the wrong hands, and end up being mishandled.

my friend's father had a rifle in his basement in a gun cabinet but it wasn't locked and the gun was loaded and his buddy found it and jokingly pointed it at him and just like that he was ripped away from this world at 17 and this is the only time that i heard about getting shot in canada from someone and not on the news or anything

heres what you do. when youre outside take the gun with you fully loaded. hide it on your person so children cant get to it, with out obviously alerting you like a zipped pocket or get a over the shoulder holster or belt holster that cops have that only they can open. when you return inside you empty the gun properly and then lock it away somewhere that only you know of. and you keep the key on your person. there crisis of mass child accidents averted. thats not to say that there wont be the occational accident but its a better alternative than what youre suggesting that im suggesting.
