I love how in the original Brady campaign image the gun related deaths (which includes negligent discharges) are given completely out of context. The per capita gun deaths weren't all that different between the listed countries.

You think this was one of those instances?

Cars aren't tools used to kill **** . Guns are. The two are not comparable because they have entirely different functions.

Cars create forward motion/energy, guns fire a projectile.
What is done with either one is up to the person pressing the gas pedal or pulling the trigger.
Both can be used to kill, and both normally don't.

Tell that to: Car bombs, Jeeps strapped with turrets, etc.

Guns were originally developed with the purpose of killing. Cars were originally developed for the purpose of transportation. Plus, people aren't driving everywhere in their Jeeps decked out with turrets, nor are there car bombings happening in America.

Of course, that changes everything.
What a great solace for those maimed by cars and the relatives of those killed.
It's practically as if nothing happened at all.

Except no, it isn't. They're still maimed and dead.
Maybe intention is not as big a factor on outcome as you think it is.

Except there are more people saying "I think I'll shoot someone today" than there are saying "I think I'll kill someone with my car today." Besides, cars have been regulated a **** ton since their inception. Guns could stand some regulation, without necessarily being removed entirely, as so many rednecks out there are terrified of.

Gives you no right to tell people what they can and cannot own.
Seriously, who do you think you are, ******* Stalin in the Soviet Union?

I can't tell if you're serious or not. I never once said, "Yeah let's take away everyone's **** ! For the glory of Mother Russia!" or anything like that. I'm only saying guns could use some more regulation. Leave politics to the people who know what they're talking about.
User avatar #25 to #23 - techketzer (12/20/2012) [-]
You're advocating the state to infringe the people's right of ownership.
Make of that what you will.

Leaving politics to the people who know what they're doing means taking it away from those who do not, though, doesn't it?

That's exactly what it means, and the fact that we let so many mentally impaired people assist in deciding what happens in America is exactly why this is the most retarded country on the planet.
Seriously, you're letting a gun club tell you what to do.
User avatar #27 to #26 - techketzer (12/21/2012) [-]
Government overstepping its bounds has piled up ~200 Million corpses in the last 100 years alone.

I'd rather take the gun club, thank you.

Because guns are so much easier to acquire than cars and are not regulated at all by the federal government..

Are you kidding? I can't drive for more than 5 miles in any direction without seeing a car on the side of the road with a for sale sign in the window.

It was sarcasm, It's much harder to buy a gun than to buy a car. The way he worded his initial statement made it seem like guns aren't regulated and I could just go to walmart, give them my money and walk out with a gun (You can't btw, background checks and all that **** ).

Except cars aren't designed for the express purpose of killing. And we don't want to ban all guns, just assault weapons that make it... extremely easy to... Oh wait, this is a humor website and upon reflection this is humorous. So no debate need be started!

So... Do we ban cars or issue everyone a car?

How about building better roads and training drivers better?
That might actually work.
User avatar #20 to #12 - thatguywhohasbacon ONLINE (12/19/2012) [-]
And leave people to have a choice of whether or not they want a car and to decide if they feel safer owning one.

Although I completely agree that an armed person isn't a murderer and guns themselves aren't the culprits it is the people that use them. But if cars do become illegal then the number of car murders would go down because the number of cars on the road would go down. So for the sake of the statistic it will work.
