To be perfectly honest, the science channel was 95% slo-mo gifs of shit blowing up/burning/unexplained scientific phenomena. I personally viewed it as being of roughly the same intellectual level as fucking-boobs, albeit with a great deal more potential.

Fucking Science never posted actual scientific discussion, explanation or hypotheses. The things that made frontpage were just gifs showing quirks of physics or nature with barely any relation to the actual science involved or just images and art involving advanced technology. The posts weren't particularly intelligent, they were just another form of eye-candy. Boobs are also eye-candy and therefore, also get thumbs; intelligence and enlightenment have practically nothing to do with this.
