I have a feeling that's what Tim Burton wanted, because Vincent Price was Tim Burton's role model and idol. He was very lucky to have him star in Edward Scissorhands!

Most likely, no! In my opinion, Mr. Burton always reflects a little bit of himself in his characters. That's one of the many reasons that his movies are so wonderful and dear to my heart. :)
