First time uploading anything here.
Long story short
Beta piece of ****
I am a 20 year old Korean male.
I am 5'11 and weigh 285 LBS.
I have been fat and morbidly obese for most of my life and I am absolutely sick of it. I want to lose weight. for now, my target weight is 210 LBS. I want to lose that by the end of the year. I have never tried losing weight before and I could use some advice. Recipes, fitness videos on youtube, workouts, anything helps. I will try to upload on a regular basis (maybe once every two weeks or so).
FJ family, keep me accountable. roast me if I don't upload or if I don't lose the weight. If I don't reach my target weight by december, I will get my hair styled and dyed any way you guys want to (I will not cut my hair until december).

Thank you, my FJ family

TL;DR trying to get weight down to 210 LBS. Please help with suggestion in the comments. If I fail, you get to style my hair however you want.

Welp, that didn't work, but my method is doing Jump Rope Cardios for 30 minutes after a meal. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. I skip dinner sometimes. That's like a good 20-30 pounds off in a matter of a week or two. A lot of boxers do it.

I had thought that you avoid exercise after a meal? Like, doesn't exercise immediately after eating make you throw up or something?
User avatar #7 to #6 - onebigpoop (06/08/2015) [-]
I definitely do not recommend doing it immediately. Let your body digest it first.

Out of all the methods I had to choose to do; I chose the jump ropes. It doesn't require you to go out in public (I don't do well with people). It's definitely worth it if you dedicate yourself to it. It's also a fast method. Best results if you prolong the fitness training for over 3-4months just doing the same consecutive thing. It works all your necessary muscles and burns a lot of excess and outer-fat. It's part of my at-home physical fitness training I have to do as army-reserve. 1 month of everyday Jump-Roping can get your body to average size in a jippy. You can take even sundays as break-day. If you want to go the extra mile to building the perfect body. I recommend doing ab-workouts after finishing a jumprope routine. This is my daily routines:

Breakfast
8:30am - 9am Jump Rope (You can take 3 minute pauses if you get too tired)
Lunch
12pm - 12:30pm Jump Rope
25 Pushups
25 Situps
1Minute Plank
5 Lap Shuttle Runs/Jog

Dinner
7pm - 7:30pm Jump Ropes
25 Pushups
25 Situps
1Minute Plank
5Minute Shadow Boxing (Just because)

I always burn through a bottle of water each timed routine.
When you Jump Rope, I recommend to try and breathe through your nose as much as
possible. If you breathe through your mouth you get tired quicker.

I've been doing this for 2 months now and I went from 200lb to 140lb

I don't normally comment, but this seems interesting. I was a pretty fat person before but definitely not like you. No offense dude but you look like borderline obese. But here's how I manage to lose weight and gain some muscle. Hopefully it'll help you.

!!DIET!!!
1. It's gonna be hard and **** , trust me.
2. A lot of people agree that it's more about how much you eat, not what you what you eat to lose weight. ( e.g 500 cals of a salad = 500 cal of burger) But don't use this as an excuse to lose weight by eating McDonalds. Eat good food and balance your meals to get energy. Honestly cut out junk and snacks.
3. Eat lots of fruits and veggies; less fried and grease.
4. Personally, I prefer 5 small meals throughout the day rather than 3 meals. Eat especially less during dinner.
5. You could try low-carb/ keto diet ect. or w/e to speed you up or to help you, but imo you'll lose enough weight just by eating less rather than some fad vegan paleo exclusive diet since you're pretty fat already. Don't follow some diet /plan, It'll be more confusing and annoying. Follow the general "eating healthy".
6. IMPORTANT: Don't be those people that instantly transition into a diet ( ex. usually 3000 cals to like 1500 cals or from eating spaghetti and pizza to salads only). You're body's gonna need time to adjust or else it'll think something's wrong and hold onto the fat. Take your time and slowly decrease your intake of cals.
7. You could count calories and track food but honestly at your weight, just eating less and better would work to a certain point. It's mainly body builders that count cals and track macros because they have to look perfect and it's harder to lose weight/fat.
8. I wouldn't recommend fasting yet since it'll just be more complication and can hurt your progress. JUST EAT LESS, NO TRICKS NO ******** . CALS IN, CALS OUT.
9. Some people have cheat days so they don't go crazy, you could if you want. But don't go crazy or your whole week will be wasted. Up to you, I probably wouldn't.
10. You don''t have to eat salads everyday. if you do, use olive oil or vignettes. Get used to it. No creamy caeser or ranch cause first it smells bad and it's useless imo. It's like deepfrying brocolli. If you still do, just use about 1 tablespoon or less.
11. Lots of water son. Keeps you thinking you're full and hydrated. Stay thirsty.
12. No alchohal. You don't need it and it's useless.
13 or 12b. Stay away from useless foods. donuts, cakes, sugar, candy. Stuff that provide no nutritional value aka empty calories aka uselessness. IMO bread's alright but limit carbs/rice regardless.
14. Eat good meals for breakfast. Fruits, good cereals; not sugar, oatmeal ect. Get your meals from a grill, not fridge. aka don't eat frozen **** like eggos or hot pockets.

15.
DIET TIPS

1. Know that this is going to be a long and hard journey (unlike your dick (d.w I'm asian too, just jokes)). Since it took, I'm assuming, 20 years for you to look like that, It'll be awhile until you start seeing results. But honestly, it probably took you like x years to get that fat so it'll be around x years to lose it.
2. Realistically, you'll lose an average of 2 lbs a week (I think) for most normal people. Anything greater in a short amount of time is temp/ water weight. Basically losing a lot of weight fast is unhealthy and rarely sustainable. Emphasis on taking your time and long and hard journey,.
3. Don't binge eat. snack, or eat until you stuff yourself. What helped me not do this is basically asking myself questions. "Am I really hungry?" "Will I die if I don't eat this?" " Do I really want to eat this?" " Didn't I eat already?" ect. I feel like this really helps against mindless eating. Just talk to yourself.
4. Diet's only half the process and will work to a certain extent by itself.
5. After a workout,. you're gonna be hungry. Just chill and eat just enough. eating is for survival, but some people use it for pleasure
6. Ignore what people say.

EXCERCISE

1. Be active. As easy as that sounds, not many people do it. I've been sitting on my ass playing league for that past 4-5 days. Trying to get back to the gym tomorrow :/. Walk around, do stuff, don't use mobiscooters ,ect.

2. Cardio. I honestly hate cardio but to lose weight you gotta do it. Cardio kills gains? Yeah it probably does but the only gains you have are weight gains (ayy lmao). But in seriousness, at your point losing fat and trimming is a priority, Unless you're trying to be a strongman or sumo. In that case you're on the right track. I hate running since it's so ******* boring and hurts but that's just me being a bitch. I prefer stuff like martial arts, sports, ect. but in your case you have to do some form of cardio. **** it man, do Zumba if you have too. If you aren't out of breath and ripping your heart out, you're not doing it right. But do take it easy. Don't injury yourself or do something stupid like try to run a 2k on your first day. Like dieting, this takes time. But on the bright side, you don't have to do it after you thin down. Unless you want too.

2. Weightlifting/ bodybuilding: Every time I see a fat person, I see potential. It's like an sculpted piece of art. Skinny and Thin people have to build up mass and train, but you already got it. You could just focus on cardio to lose weight but building muscle will help your body burn more cals over time as you get stronger. This will be a confusing time however since you might gain "weight" since you're building muscle or that you'll lift less since you're cutting weight. Don't use scales or measure your weight frequently. more on this later. Basically, You should start lifting as a form of exercise. Look for a schedule or something similar to help you get started. Things like Bodybuilding.com or google can help find a decent plan.

EXERCISE/GENERAL TIPS

1. There isn't really much I can talk about exercise the same way as diet because there's too many things to name. Just be active and do something you like. Limit computer/ sitting down time.
2. Going to a gym by yourself isn't bad. I only need a spotter for chest. Don't feel discouraged.
3. Don't be discouraged. Some people may laugh or have comments but just ignore them. They're asshats and represent like 1% of the community. I never had anyone comment on my weight or laugh at me or trying to hard (except friends, but we bust on each other, it's no big deal) But if a stranger ever does this to you, ignore them or even complain to the manager. It might be a bitch move but if they're banned from the gym, even better. Sucks for them. There will always be haters but look at it this way, they would make fun of you for being fat regardless of whether you workout or not. At least if you workout, they get nothing after while.
6. Learn to ignore people/ stop caring. idk about you but I don't like it when people say anything to me. I know i'm losing weight, I know I look thinner. I don't need you to push me forward, It's embarrassing. Though I appreciate the compliment, it always seem condescending, but that's just me. Basically stop caring what other people think, (make sure to thank them for good compliments). If any says something stupid like "Why are you eating this?" or " Why are you working out/trying so hard?" just say " Cause I'm fat as **** " It'll probably give them a good laugh, a good reason, and prevents a long explanation. Best answer: "Cause I'm fat as **** "
7. JUST DO IT. Yesterday you said tomorrow so just DO IT. Don't be lazy and get started asap. Don't wait till morning or monday, ect. Start something now. Fat people can lose weight. Fat and Lazy people can't
8. Make sure you get good rest. I say around 8 hours starting from 12 midnight.
9.Take it slow at first. Try like 3 days a week to 5 to 6. always have a rest day.
10. look up anything you're unsure of. Better safe than sorry.

11. Don't worry about weight and how much you weigh. It'll fluctuate constantly. I'd say check every month and keep a mental check.

12. Find friends that will help you. It'll make the journey a lot easier.

13. Never give up or you'll always end up in the same situation. Look at yourself in the mirror everyday and smile. Always motivate yourself, imagine yourself as thin. That it's possible and that no one is born fat (figuratively speaking). Say to yourself " I'm fat as **** right now, but not for long" Do something everyday to keep going.

14. Active rest: Even if it's resting day, do light cardio or activities to keep active. Even if you're feeling sore and stuff.

15. Other people have gone through what you have and have receive results just by keeping on. We feel your pain and we know it's hard. but just keep on going.
16. Take progress pics to keep motivated.
18. People will have something to say. Whether positive or negative, just learn to deal and do w/e the **** you want to do.
19. Don't be afraid to ask people for advice, especially if they know what they're doing. I do that all the time if i'm loss or unsure of form.
20. Hiring a trainer is ok if you got bills to burn but you can honestly do everything yourself.
21. A lot of people hate on this and I personally don't trust it but: Crossfit. Make sure form is good and things aren't to dangerous. If something feels unsafe, bail. It's actually good exercise.
22. Make sure to warm up before working out and stretching afterwards to keep safe and prevent injuries.

23. You're gonna look sweaty/ugly/dirty/fat/smelly/ect. Learn to deal with it. Everyone does. Embrace your filth while you're working out.
24. Don't eat before sleeping. Give some time to digest food.
25. Full body workouts and if you're body building, make sure to hit your entire body.
26. Bring a towel if you have too.
27. Never give up. The most important things is to never give up. You can walk a mile a day, but you'll still eventualkly end up with the same result after some time. The goal is the same, only the time it takes will vary. It's there, believe it.
28. Don't get complacent. Keep on improving everyday. Gradually increase weight, distance, speed, ect. I would suggest keeping up with this way of life even after you thin down to keep it steady.
29.You're lucky. You're a pretty decent looking guy if you'd just lost some weight ( no homo, just objectively speaking and looking at facial structure and other bs)
30. Feel free to message me if you need help or advice. I don't really do much except browse on this site lol.

idk tho

HIIT as cardio is the solution my friend, easy, fast and simple. Only have to use 30 min a day 5-6 days a week, and its guaranteed results. It boost your metabolism quite nicely, and as you said, a lot of small meals are def the best to cut, it also increases your metabolism, and will make it easier to not snack in between meals.

You could see this as an opportunity. Kill Kim Jong Un, and take his place. Then start making secret deals with South Korea to slowly make North Korea a better place. Then, after a few years, make it whole Korea again.
Or just become fit.
Hard choice, really. But if you do the first one first, and the second one after that, you'll have both.

David So is a korean comedy youtuber trying to lose weight. Something interesting he did is he didn't allow himself to cut his hair until he reached a certain goal. He didn't like his hair looking long so it was a motivation.

I will try to write a somewhat comprehensive guide for you, it worked pretty well for me (Went from 21% body fat to 10% in 2-3 months)

First of all, your diet is the most important thing when going down in weight. Eat a lot of chicken filet and some green to it, i usually prepare 1-2 kilos in plastic boxes and keep em in the fridge, very easy to just heat up and put some spices on. Also eat a lot of small meals through the day(Every 3 hours is a nice rule), should add up to 5-6 in one day. I also drink a lot of milk with little fat in it, gives you good proteins. I would keep myself away from bread/pasta/candy/sweet drinks/fast food/unhealthy **** /. Drink a lot of water, 3-4 litres everyday, it helps calming your appetite.

I don't know if you plan to lift weights, but if you do, you could start easy, prob 3 times a week.
Chest+triceps - Monday, back+biceps - Wednesday, legs - Friday
ab exercises can be done on all these days, but its up to you, see if you got the time.
If you want the best possible muscle mass increase(which i am sure you do), 10-12 reps and 4 sets on each exercise is the **** . Do short rests inbetween sets, 60-90 sec, and when you are on your last set, see if you can squeeze in 2 negative reps when you cant do any more normal reps, or do a drop set, so you really manage to rip those last muscle fibres. Have a bit longer break between the different exercises, but dont let it go on to long, a few minutes should be the top. Dont do to many exercises on each body part, 3-4 exercises on each should be enough, if not you ain't doing it hard enough.

I can recommend bodybuilding.com , they got a lot of nice guides, how to do exercises and **** , ofc dont believe it all, but keep reading and you will start to learn what the most important **** is.
Ok, now the most important part of the exercise, if you wanna lose fat. When youre done lifting you should perform something called HIIT, namely High Intensity Interval Training. This is the best way to lose fat, cause its easy, simple and fast . I have written a more extensive intro on this which i will link here funnyjunk.com/Fitness+success+transformation+comp/funny-pictures/5557104/806#806 , if you got any further questions, just ask.
HIIT should be done 5-6 times a week, and it will be hard, but its worth it. Get some good music going, and keep on working.

I have seen conturs of my abs lately, and its a ******* great feeling! It will be hard in the beginning, but as you keep it up it will become a routine, and thats when you really will get the best results. It will become something you can't keep without.
Work hard towards your goal, you are the most important element in your life, improve yourself and improve your life! I can sign on it

And please ask questions if you wonder anything, i dont know how coherent I have been in this reply, this text editor is kinda shoit. Also, when you see an opportunity, try to get a gym buddy, it can help greatly, but dont let him/her weight you down, they are there to help you improve yourself.

Forgot to say, but every fourth day, you should have one cheat meal, if you follow a strict caloriediet. No binge eating, and shoudnt be necessaricly unhealthy, just an extra boost of carbs and calories, to "trick" your body into not decreasing metabolism over time. Also helps keeping your sanity. Taking this meal after your HIIT session is also a smart thing, then it wont affect your diet too much cause your body will suck up those extra carbs.
