It's a conundrum I wrestled with for a couple of years before embracing homosexuality.

It seems for every reason against it, I find reason for it. In most cases, I can discard any reasoning against it. If whatever profound feelings and emotions I have for someone are returned in kind, then should gender really be an issue in preventing any sort of physical intimacy if both parties were willing to the act?

I'm with anon here. I think you just recognized that people are people and gender doesn't actually matter if you love them and are not completely disgusted by their genitalia.
