I'd say he lived a pretty happy life. They constantly put him with females of other subspecies to bang, to try to make little half-georges. Unfortunetley, this never worked, because none of them got prego.

A full life of banging for him tho

But...

Guys? Don't we have cloning technology now? And it's painfully simply to make a male a female, or female male during it? Only takes a few years, I think. Why didn't we just do that?

All I can see about that is human stupidity...
We can't find any other like it so it is the last of its kind: Lets keep him locked up so he will survive alone away from where he grew up and never meet other of its species if there are still some left.
I know it is highly improbable for us to not have found other "survivor" of it's kind and him succeding in it, but even if he was the last one, why were keeping him locked up in a cage. I wouldn't like being put in a cage for the rest of my life just because I'm the last of my kind.

The island this turtle is on is about 60 square miles, and its in the middle of the ocean.

There are no other turtles.

god could you imagine being that lonely, literally the loneliest you could possibly be. just waiting around all day waiting for someone who is like you to come by even though it can never possibly happen. that hits me in the feels. living all those years as everyone died out then dying completely alone in an enclosure, and the only people that care are a few scattered people on the internet.

Y'know.... SAVING a species is just as bad as EXTINCTION.

Let nature run it's fucking course... There's a reason why the Dodo's are dead.

This 'nature' you're referring to happens to be the human race. WE are the reason for quite a few extinctions.

Tard logic.

Eventually the disruption of ecosystems will significantly effect human life. The acidification of the oceans due to carbon dioxide pollution has a good chance of causing a collapse in the ocean ecosystems. One third of humans get their protein from the ocean, many species rely entirely on the oceans. The last time the oceans had a massive collapse most terrain species died off. There will be a drastic ripple effect if we continue to push species to extinction.

Humans are going to be gone one day, and unbeknownst to us, the intelligent life that's been watching us from afar from millennia will have a similar Tumblr post on their home world.

Assuming we last long enough to conquer a star or two, humans may well exist forever.

As far as anyone can tell, if we occupy two entirely separate planets, the odds of both populations naturally being wiped out at the same time are literally trillions to one. Multiply (or would it be divide, since we're talking about odds) that for each additional planet we occupy.

Perhaps, however, if we hit up space and make some enemies, as is the human way, it'll be a different story. Something to think about.

This story is false.

I have a turtle at my house, so they can't be extinct.
